Carl Cox on Socially Distanced Nightlife: “It Defies the Ethos of What Brings Us Together”

Before COVID-19 funneled the nightlife industry into a metaphorical wood chipper, fabled DJ and producer Carl Cox was on his typical mission of delivering heart-pumping rave music to the masses. The house music legend has been doing so since the 80s, when he helped to usher in a new era of electronic music in the states. Having witnessed the unwavering ebb and flow in the EDM industry over the years, there is perhaps no one more qualified to assess the current musical zeitgeist than Cox, who recently aired a special performance that moonlighted as an ode to 90s rave music. Cox recently spoke to London-based outlet Evening Standard about the current nightlife landscape in the wake of COVID-19, and his outlook was markedly bleak. Socially distanced club nights are “reall...

Now think about doing that in a custom Ferrari. EDM artists are known for adding high octane gas into their productions, but they add it to their luxury vehicles as well. Navigating the roads at breakneck speeds comparable to the kinetic energy of their music, here are 10 producers and DJs who have car collections will have your jaw on the floor. ...

Carl Cox Among Judges to Award COVID-19 Frontline Health Worker a Trip to Barbados

Not all heroes wear capes—some wear PPE and fight on the frontlines against COVID-19. One of those heroes is Rachael Faustino, an advanced nurse practitioner who, at 28 years of age, relocated hundreds of miles from Blackpool to London in order to help those at the forefront of the outbreak in the capital. As a reward for her valiant efforts, she was chosen as one of 20 winners of an initiative spearheaded by the Barbados Tourist Board to receive a free seven-night stay on the beautiful island. Faustino’s willingness to put herself in harm’s way, knowing that many doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers were catching the virus and dying from it, did not go unnoticed. She was nominated for the initiative and chosen by a panel of judges, including legendary DJ Carl Cox, who...

Cox completed the setup by performing against a backdrop of 1990s rave footage.  As one of house music’s most timeless tastemakers, Cox was well equipped as always with the deep cuts that seemingly transported his dedicated fans back in time.
