Spring Awakening Cancún Cancelled Due to Omicron Concerns, Major Loss From Chicago Festival: Report

While live music made a triumphant return in 2021, the weather and a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases haven’t been kind to LiveOne. The promoter and digital media company have announced that they are canceling the Cancún edition of Spring Awakening just weeks before the event was scheduled to take place.  The Cancún music festival was set to take place from January 13th through 17th. According to Billboard, LiveOne cited the Omicron variant of the coronavirus as a primary contributor to the cancellation as well as a $3 million dollar loss they suffered after Spring Awakening’s flagship festival in Chicago was ultimately canceled due to lightning, which caused an evacuation of the festival grounds. Cancún Music Week’s 2022 Summit Will Be Geared Toward Underground Electronic Industry

Ah, networking. The necessity we love to hate.  Luckily, next year’s Cancún Music Week will offer an opportunity for electronic music industry professionals to trade in their Zoom coffee chats for cocktails on the beach. Excision has announced a brand new destination music festival, which the dubstep icon has likened to a “headbanger’s paradise.” Excision’s first-ever destination music festival, Paradise Blue invites dubstep fans to the idyllic beaches of Cancún, Mexico, where they’ll be able to kick up some sand and rage to heavy-hitting performances from a who’s who of the finest in bass music. Electric Zoo’s 2021 Cancún Edition Moved to November, More Headliners Announced

Last summer the organizers of Electric Zoo declared they are “going hard in 2021 with BIG shows and NEW experiences,” announcing a destination event in Cancún from April 7th to 11th, 2021. Despite ongoing efforts, the festival has now been postponed to November 11-14, 2021.  EZoo Cancún offers attendees standard, premium, or luxury packages at The Grand Oasis ranging in price from $759 to $849 per person. Taking fans by surprise, ILLENIUM has announced his own inaugural music festival, Ember Shores, taking place in Cancun, Mexico, in December 2021.
