The pandemic has had a financial impact on every club, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from getting their wallets out. Mikel Arteta wants Arsenal transfer European form into Premier League

Mikel Arteta has demanded Arsenal transfer their Europa League form into the Premier League, where he says his side need to start winning matches “immediately”. Goals from Eddie Nketiah, Mohamed Elneny, Joe Willock and Folarin Balogun helped the Gunners ease past Irish side Dundalk 4-2 in Dublin on Thursday to finish top of Group B with a 100 per cent record – the first time they have won six successive European matches since 2005. That fine European form is in sharp contrast to their domestic struggles, where the club have lost six out of their last nine matches to slump to 15th in the table. With the Europa League now finished with until February, Arsenal can focus all their attention on domestic competition, with Arteta stressing the urgent need to pick up positive results, starting wit...

Report: Celtic eye move for international, face Aston Villa competition

Celtic and Aston Villa are among the clubs interested in signing Crystal Palace central midfielder James McCarthy, according to TEAMtalk. McCarthy has been on the books of Palace since the summer of 2019 when he joined from Premier League rivals Everton. The 30-year-old Republic of Ireland international is out of contract at the Eagles at the end of the season. TEAMtalk has reported that Celtic are ready to offer McCarthy a long-term contract in January to lure him to Celtic Park on a free transfer next summer. The report has added that the 30-year-old will have to accept a pay-cut, and if he agrees to terms, then the Scottish Premiership giants will try to strike a deal with Palace to secure his services in the January transfer window and not wait until next summer. However, according to ...

The Burnley crest explained, then redesigned

The Burnley crest explained, then redesigned – originally posted on Sportslens.com Most clubs have worked to simplify their crests and keep it to just a few elements in recent years. Burnley FC is definitely not one of those clubs. Burnley FC was formed in 1882, being one of the earlier English football clubs. It was actually formed by members of the Burnley Rovers, a rugby team. It was surprising to me how many clubs started with as offshoots of other sports clubs. Now for that crest. Burnley FC started off with using the Royal Arms as a crest.  They only got their first actual crest in 1969 when they used a vertical “BFC” monogram. The current crest has tons of elements within it and is based on the town’s coat of arms. Let’s start from the top, where there is a stork which represe...

English Premier League Match Preview, Team News and Predicted Line-ups: Burnley vs Chelsea

Chelsea have won just two Premier League games in 2020-21 out of six matches, drawing three and losing once, and they will be keen to pick up their third league victory tomorrow when they visit Turf Moor to clash with Burnley. The Blues secured a 4-0 win over FC Krasnodar in their second Champions League group game on Wednesday, and will fancy their chances of another victory against Sean Dyche’s men. The Clarets came close to holding Tottenham Hotspur to a draw on Monday, but a 76th-minute header from Son Heung-Min helped the visitors pick up all three points. Burnley are without a victory in five Premier League games, drawing once and losing the other four, and they will be keen to get something against Chelsea. With a takeover on the horizon, Dyche and his players could be in the mood t...

Premier League Match Preview, Team News and Predicted Line-ups: Burnley vs Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur will look to put last Sunday’s disappointing 3-3 draw with West Ham United behind them when they visit Burnley today in their sixth English Premier League game of 2020-21. Jose Mourinho’s men have won just twice this term, losing once and drawing another two, and they will be keen to pick up a valuable victory on a tough ground having left with a point the last time they were at Turf Moor in March. They put last weekend’s blow – which saw them throw away their three-goal in 10 minutes – behind them to secure a 3-0 victory in their Europa League group stage opener against LASK, but Burnley are a different side and Spurs might not find it easy at Turf Moor. Sean Dyche’s men have struggled this term, though, and they are without a victory in four Premier League games, losing...
