Burberry officially pledged to become climate positive by 2040, but what exactly does that mean? While being climate neutral means reducing the amount of harmful greenhouse gases released into the Earth’s atmosphere (the protective layer around the planet that keeps us from overheating), being climate positive means that Burberry will reduce more greenhouse gases than the brand’s production and supply chain creates. Burberry plans to achieve its 2040 climate positive goal by cutting emissions across its extended supply chain by 46-percent and launching special projects with climate conscious groups that share the brand’s vision. Burberry will also support the Fashion Avengers, which is a collective of global fashion organisations that are working to achieve the UN’s...
On the evening of Beyoncé securing the accolade of most Grammy Awards won by a female singer, and the second most Grammy Awards won by a musician, ever — it was only fitting that the industry icon arrived at the Grammys afterparty looking like a walking piece of art. After winning the 2021 Grammy Awards for best R&B performance, best rap performance, best rap song, and best music video, Beyoncé was literally glittering at the Grammys afterparty. The “Black Parade”, “Brown Skin Girl”, and “Black Is King” singer wore a custom Burberry outfit designed by creative director Riccardo Tisci. The head-to-toe sparkling, silver look featured a silver nailhead mesh embroidered gown and a crystal chain cage corset with platform leather heels, a silver nailhead m...

Burberry continues its commitment to sustainable practices and young creatives by launching ReBurberry Fabric in partnership with the British Fashion Council (BFC). The initiative plans to donate leftover Burberry fabrics to fashion students across the country who need a bit of extra help after a rough year. ReBurberry Fabric is a part of the BFC’s Positive Fashion and Colleges Council initiative, with help from fashion journalists Charlie Porter and Sarah Mower. Fabric donations will be facilitated by the BFC with plans to be made available to the remainder of the fashion industry — in an effort to inspire other brands and colleges to support future talent in sustainable ways. “One of the BFC’s priorities is to encourage the industry to move towards a circular fashion ec...
Burberry and Marcus Rashford are celebrating their new charitable campaign with an upbeat fashion film featuring four of the UK’s most captivating young dancers. The film, directed by Megaforce and choreographed by (LA)HORDE, is inspired by the fearless spirit of modern British youth — and we’re already trying to master those fun dance moves. In the film, British dancer Zhané Samuels, French dancers Kevin Bago, Robinson Cassarino, and Singaporean dancer Chantel Foo navigate a modern British landscape using the spontaneous creativity of their bodies. The campaign aims to connect the worlds of sport, fashion, and dance in a diverse and dynamic work of performance art. “This campaign is about looking forwards, looking to the future — inspired by youth, it brings together a c...
Burberry is partnering with English footballer Marcus Rashford MBE to support numerous youth organisations in London and Manchester and charities with a global reach. After campaigning heavily over the summer to ensure that the government continues to provide free school meals to young people affected by the coronavirus, the Manchester United and England striker was approached by Burberry to fund local and international youth organisations that hold a special place in Rashford’s own journey. In honour of Rashford, Burberry will continue working with London Youth to fund grants and programmes for 15 youth centres that will “make a positive impact in some of London’s most deprived communities,” Burberry said in a press statement. There was an understandable eeriness to Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2021 fashion show. The heritage brand opened London Fashion Week with a chat between Erykah Badu, Bella Hadid, Rosalía, and Steve Lacy that was surprisingly spiritual. Moderated by Badu, the pre-show got guests in a meditative, calming mood before the live stream presented a mix of performance art, and clothes that referenced the healing powers of water, the natural world, and society’s current confinement, excess, and emotional release. “The circle is hugely symbolic – regrowth, renewal, the circle of life,” says Burberry chief creative officer, Riccardo Tisci, in a press statement. “The collection is called In Bloom because I was thinking about regeneration, about dynamic youth, about nature co...
