It’s been a momentous summer for Brooklyn Mirage. The venue kicked the season off with a striking, unexpected redesign. It built one of the world’s largest outdoor video walls, a dazzling structure stretching 200 feet in length and soaring 30 feet high, topped by a modular space-frame stage roof. Besides the unrivaled visual experience, Brooklyn Mirage offered attendees top-notch programming. Alesso, Disclosure, David Guetta, Kaskade, Marshmello and Zedd are just a few fan-favorite artists to have headlined the venue this year. Brooklyn Mirage also hosted incredible takeovers by the likes of Anjunadeep, Tale Of Us’ Afterlife, Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream and Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats. And after acquiring Electric Zoo, the venue now buzzes beyond its East Williamsburg dancefloor. The Brooklyn...
Creativity is boundless for Louis The Child. Some fans may associate them with a glossy dance-pop style meshed with future bass, a sound made popular by hit tracks like “It’s Strange” and “Better Not.” But there’s more than meets the eye with Louis The Child. If their rave-inspired headline performance at Red Rocks last year was any indication, genres are fluid. They’re meant to be traversed across rather than confined within. Louis The Child’s latest event, Alter-Ego, took that idea up a notch. By inviting artists to perform sets exploring left-field tastes, Alter-Ego materialized an unabashed focus on defying genres. New York will get a huge taste of Aussie-flavored tech house this weekend, when Dom Dolla descends on Brooklyn Mirage He’ll make his debut on July 1st at the famed New York venue, where he’ll perform an extended DJ set. “I’ve never been so ready,” he tweeted. “This is surreal.” Joining Dolla are Australian compatriot Torren Foot, Hot Creations co-founder Lee Foss, New York native Westend and Abco. Driven by infectious hooks and emphatic basslines, Dolla’s early singles took the Melbourne dance music community by storm. “You,” “Be Randy” (with Torren Foot) and “Take It”—released in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively—all topped the ARIA Club Chart. However, it was the seductive “Take It” that put him on the international stage. The track, crafted ...
New York City’s most popular EDM venue has taken over its premier electronic festival. We’re tuned to expect specific sounds from our favorite artists. Go to an Excision show and you’re getting an abundance of ground-shaking bass and dubstep growls. Seeing Armin van Buuren entails a bright mix of progressive house and trance. But once in a while, major artists surprise us with stark deviations from their established sounds, like Dillon Francis trading his moombahton style for deep house or deadmau5 eschewing his signature electro flair in favor of obscure, pulsing techno under his TESTPILOT moniker. It’s rare to see an event dedicated to artists exploring their left-field tastes though—something Louis The Child hope to change with their latest event concept, “Alter-Ego,” a multi-stage takeover of the Brooklyn Mirage. “We wanted to create an event where artists ar...
