The World’s First “Choral Rave” Is Set to Debut In Brooklyn

A first-of-its-kind “choral rave” is coming to New York, according to its organizers, Choral Chameleon. The Brooklyn-based group, whose mission is to reframe choral music through experimental performance, have announced “Bigger Than My Song,” which will debut at the Irondale Center for Theater, Education and Outreach on January 20th. In collaboration with FEVER, the choir will work alongside DJ HeTheyWe for the unique dance music crossover show. Over a three-night run, the DJ and choir will host a dance party as 50 a cappella voices reimagine hits into techno, trance and house remixes. Brooklyn Drill Rapper Dusty Locane in Jail for Gun Charges

Buzzing Brooklyn rapper Dusty Locane pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal possession of a weapon stemming from 2019 and 2020 offenses. On Nov. 24, the drill artist posted to Instagram that he would be turning himself in on Nov. 30 to serve his sentence, which includes a mandatory minimum of one year with a maximum sentence of three years. “Been fightin [these] cases for damn near 4 [years],” the 23-year-old wrote in an Instagram caption. “Now I gotta go handle up ima take care of dis short bid n ima be bacc nine five times stronger ‼️” Dusty Locane hasn’t let the time behind bars detract from his release cycle. She served seven years in prison, from 2010 to 2017, after her sentence was commuted by former President Barack Obama. After her release from prison in 2017, Manning, a former DJ, made her living through various speaking engagements. Brooklyn Museum Honors Virgil Abloh’s Legacy With Stimulative Exhibition

The life of DJ and fashion design visionary Virgil Abloh will be remembered in a reflective exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum. Open through January 29th, 2023, the exhibition, dubbed “Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech,” highlights the late creative’s epoch-making journey through many facets of architecture, design, fashion and music. It was curated by Michael Darling and originally opened at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in 2019.  Prior to his tragic death in November 2021 from a rare form of cancer, Abloh had already spun up ideas with curator and writer Antwaun Sargent for the Brooklyn Museum’s exhibit.
