Neutral Milk Hotel Announce New Box Set, Share Unreleased Single “Little Birds”: Stream

Neutral Milk Hotel, the indie rock project led by the reclusive Jeff Mangum, have readied a new archival box set, titled The Collected Works of Neutral Milk Hotel, for release on February 24th via Merge. The vinyl compilation includes the group’s two full-length LPs, 1996’s On Avery Island and 1998’s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, as well as two 10-inch EPs, three 7-inch singles, and an exclusive 12-inch picture disc of the concert album Live at Jittery Joe’s, which features a 1997 performance by the band originally released in 2001. The Collected Works marks the digital debut of several tracks initially included on a 2011 compilation self-released by Mangum, and expands on the previous offering with a double LP edition of On Avery Island, a remastered and extended tracklist for the 1...

The Strokes Collect Early Singles in New Vinyl Box Set

The Strokes will compile some of their earliest singles in a new vinyl box set. Due out on February 24th, The Singles – Volume 01 boasts ten singles from the band’s first three albums, as well as their companion B-sides. All ten singles come pressed on black 7-inch vinyl, with the artwork from each original release replicated in the package. Pre-orders are now available via the band’s website and Amazon. Additionally, videos for all ten singles have been re-released in high definition on the band’s YouTube channel. Beggars Arkive to Release Gary Numan Vinyl Box Set of 15 Singles

Beggars Arkive has unveiled a long-awaited collection of Gary Numan’s hit singles in a brand-new box set, The Singles Collection 1978-1983. The 15 singles and accompanying B-sides span the electronic pioneer’s work from 1978 through 1983, exclusively on translucent vinyl in red, blue, and green. Each set comes complete with a white vinyl DJ case as well as a 64-page tri-color booklet featuring “front and back sleeve images, notes, recording and original release information for each single plus and archival images,” according to a release. Legendary Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler has announced the Manipulations of the Mind solo box set and a separate greatest hits album. Both arrive on July 30th. The box set spans four CDs and collects Butler’s three solo albums, Plastic Planet (1995), Black Science (1997), and Ohmwork (2005) — each having been previously reissued individually on vinyl. A fourth CD houses rare and mostly unreleased material. To celebrate the iconic grunge record’s 25th anniversary, the band is releasing a special box set titled, Tiny Music…Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop: Super Deluxe Edition. In addition to a remastered version of the 1996 classic that spawned hits like “Big Bang Baby” and “Lady Picture Show”, the package comes with two discs full of unreleased material. The 3-CD collection, titled Seasons of Change, encompasses Fraternity’s complete recorded output from 1970 to 1974. Neil Young Details Archives Vol. 2 Box Set

Neil Young has officially detailed his long-awaited Archives Vol. 2 box set. Arriving just in time for the holiday season on November 20th, the collection contains 10 discs chock-full of recordings from 1972 through 1976. According to a post on his Neil Young Archives website, twelve of these tracks have never been released in any format. There are also 50 alternate, previously unreleased versions of Young originals. The first four discs are taken from the period of 1972 and 1973. Disc 1, titled Everybody’s Alone, boasts the most goodies, as it features four never-before-released tracks: “Letter From ‘Nam”, “Come Along and Say You Will”, “Goodbye Christmas on the Shore”, and “Sweet Joni”.
