Neutral Milk Hotel, the indie rock project led by the reclusive Jeff Mangum, have readied a new archival box set, titled The Collected Works of Neutral Milk Hotel, for release on February 24th via Merge. The vinyl compilation includes the group’s two full-length LPs, 1996’s On Avery Island and 1998’s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, as well as two 10-inch EPs, three 7-inch singles, and an exclusive 12-inch picture disc of the concert album Live at Jittery Joe’s, which features a 1997 performance by the band originally released in 2001. The Strokes will compile some of their earliest singles in a new vinyl box set. Due out on February 24th, The Singles – Volume 01 boasts ten singles from the band’s first three albums, as well as their companion B-sides. All ten singles come pressed on black 7-inch vinyl, with the artwork from each original release replicated in the package. Pre-orders are now available via the band’s website and Amazon. Beggars Arkive has unveiled a long-awaited collection of Gary Numan’s hit singles in a brand-new box set, The Singles Collection 1978-1983. The 15 singles and accompanying B-sides span the electronic pioneer’s work from 1978 through 1983, exclusively on translucent vinyl in red, blue, and green. Each set comes complete with a white vinyl DJ case as well as a 64-page tri-color booklet featuring “front and back sleeve images, notes, recording and original release information for each single plus and archival images,” according to a release. The 3-CD collection, titled Seasons of Change, encompasses Fraternity’s complete recorded output from 1970 to 1974. It’s called 1970 and it features 74 previously unreleased tracks, demos, and outtakes, including nine songs that feature George Harrison. It’s due out on February 26th, 2021 via Columbia/Legacy. As the title suggests, 1970 focuses on the music Dylan released during that era. Neil Young has officially detailed his long-awaited Archives Vol. 2 box set. Arriving just in time for the holiday season on November 20th, the collection contains 10 discs chock-full of recordings from 1972 through 1976. According to a post on his Neil Young Archives website, twelve of these tracks have never been released in any format. There are also 50 alternate, previously unreleased versions of Young originals. The first four discs are taken from the period of 1972 and 1973.
