This figurative ringing of the bell is typically reserved for Coachella (and Coachella alone), which usually announces its lineup the first week of January. But when Los Angeles-based concert promoter Goldenvoice didn’t deliver on time — for unexplained reasons — it left some executives wondering what to expect from potential ripple effects throughout the festival circuit. That’s due to Coachella’s contracts and stature in the business. Coachella’s artist contracts come with radius clauses that give the Southern California festiv...

For Bonnaroo fans who are all dressed up with no where to go, festival organizers have announced a make-up concert on September 4th with Phoebe Bridgers, Brittany Howard, and Sylvan Esso. The 2021 festival was supposed to start today, September 2nd, and run through Sunday, September 5th, before downpours from Hurrican Ida flooded the farm’s 700 acres. This new event will be held on Saturday at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, TN, a site with a capacity of around 6,800. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken with 48 hours of admittance is required. Bridgers was added to the roster this year. Howard and Sylvan Esso were first announced with the 2020 lineup, though that festival was subsequently cancelled due to COVID-19. As in 2020, Sylvan Esso will hope to present...
The new agreements require AEG and Live Nation to pay 10% of the artist fee for a festival if the event is canceled 30 to 60 days before the event, either for weather or pandemic-related issues, and 50% of the artist’s fee if an event is canceled less than 30 days in advance. By limiting the event’s liability in case of cancellation, these arrangements are allowing promoters to move ahead with booking shows without having to pay artists’ full costs and are likely to factor into risk evaluation as the pandemic rages on. On Aug. 8, the AEG-promoted Jazz Fest in New Orleans canceled its two weekends planned for Oct. 8-10 and Oct. 15-17 — just one day before the 60-day mark prior to the start of the event, limiting the promoter’s liability to artists. The festival had been scheduled for September 2nd to 5th prior to its cancellation, which was announced via social media today. “We are absolutely heartbroken to announce that we must cancel Bonnaroo,” reads the statement. “While this weekend’s weather looks outstanding, currently Centeroo is waterlogged in many areas, the ground is incredibly saturated on our tollbooth paths, and the campgrounds are flooded to the point that we are unable to drive in or park vehicles safely.” “We have done everything in our power to try to keep the show moving forward, but Mother Nature has dealt us a ...
You can add Bonnaroo to the list of festivals that have been canceled in 2021, but not for the reason you’d think. On Tuesday afternoon, the Tennessee-based mega-festival revealed that the poor weather of the past few days due to Hurricane Ida have caused the event to be pushed rather than COVID (which has been the downfall of other events). “We are absolutely heartbroken to announce that we must cancel Bonnaroo,” the festival said via Twitter. “While this weekend’s weather looks outstanding, currently Centeroo is waterlogged in many areas.” Continuing, the statement said, “We have done everything in our power to try to keep the show moving forward, but Mother Nature has dealt us a tremendous amount of rain over the past 24 hours, and we have run out of options to try to make the event hap...

Organizers posted an update on Bonnaroo’s official social media accounts Monday evening (Aug. 30), stating, “Due to the expectation of significant rain on The Farm from Hurricane Ida, and the knowledge that areas of our campgrounds will be rendered unusable, Mother Nature has forced us to reduce our camping capacity.” You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online.
