Update:While the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020 may seem like a distant memory, the calls for action, support and representation are just as prevalent today as ever. Several years ago, we compiled a list of Black-owned galleries and museums around the world that should be on all art radars. In celebration of Black History Month, we’ve updated that list to include seasoned vets such as INIVA in London, to exciting newcomers, from Nicola Vassell Gallery in Chelsea, Hannah Traore Gallery in the Lower East Side and Sow & Tailor in Los Angeles.Check out the full list below. Kanye West Rebrands Black History Month As “Black Future Month”

On the first day of Black History Month, Kanye West entered the chat with a declaration that “February is now Black Future Month,” adding the hashtag #BFM to gain traction behind the sentiment. Ye first proposed the rebrand last year during an appearance on N.O.R.E. & DJ EFN’s Drink Champs show. At about two hours into the conversation, Ye stated: “I need Black Future Month. I need Black Possibility Month.” “I’m tired of seeing us getting hosed-down. I’m tired of talking about slavery,” he added. YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon Pledge Support for Blackout Tuesday

‘Anonymous’ Hacktivists Attack and Take Down United Nations Website

After hacking and taking down the Minneapolis Police Department website, the Anonymous hacker-group continued their protest spree and hacked the United Nations website, taking down a part of the site – the United Nations Civil Society Participation website – and replacing it with an image protesting the death of Minneapolis native George Floyd. Hacktivists protest by hacking a United Nations webpage. Floyd was killed by police officer Derek Chauvin – while in custody – who restrained Floyd with a knee to the back of the neck. Floyd was handcuffed and unarmed at the time. Riots were sparked across the United States and even other countries as footage of the incident was released online.
