Mayor Bowser signed off on renaming a portion of the street in front of the White House along with artwork that sends a very clear message to President Donald Trump. The Washington Post reports that earlier Friday morning (June 5), Bowser looked on as protestors gathered at the corner section of 16th Street and H Street in Washington’s Northwest section, renaming the street Black Lives Matter Plaza. Music industry executives Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang launched the 24-hour initiative, which calls on fellow music professionals to take “an urgent step of action to provoke accountability and change” by disconnecting from work and reconnecting with their communities. In the wake of George Floyd’s murder, cities around the US have imposed strict and early curfews in an effort to prevent violent protests and looting. However, rapper and GOLF Wang clothing founder Tyler, the Creator doesn’t seem to care about property damage to his own store. Tyler’s GOLF store was recently vandalized during protests in Los Angeles.
