HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Dave J Hogan / Getty Nike and Jordan have a successful history of collaborating with music artists on limited edition drops with names like Travis Scott, J. Balvin, and Kanye West having churned out some classic grails, but is Billie Eilish next in line to drop a new hype sneaker with the Swoosh brand? Though there hasn’t been any confirmation from either Nike, Jordan nor Billie herself, yesterday a picture of their supposed collaboration began to make the rounds on social media which showed Billie’s name alongside Nike and the Jumpman logo on some sort of packaging paper. While it’s been rumored that Billie would be working on something with Nike for a minute, nothing was officially announced as the sneaker aficionado has been doing her thing in the...
In a possible bid to compete with competitive hosted listening services such as Apple Music’s Apple Music One, Amazon Music’s newly launched “DJ Mode” function finds a balance between the modalities of yesteryear’s radio and today’s on demand streaming. “DJ Mode” has launched with an offering of four curated listening experiences, each led by DJs, artists, and music commentators. This most notably includes an artist takeover channel piloted by none other than the barnstorming Billie Eilish. Titled “The Billie Eilish Takeover,” the playlist—curated by the Grammy-winning pop star herself—brings listeners closer to her music than ever before. Eilish shares her favorite songs, stories, and influences behind her music during a...
As the nation’s vaccination rate increases, music festivals all over the country have begun to plan for their return. The latest to do so is the multi-genre Austin City Limits festival. This morning organizers announced the complete lineup of artists who will be taking the stage at the event’s 20th-anniversary spectacular this October. As you can see, the lineup covers everything from hip-hop to country to pop—and of course EDM. Headliners for this year’s event include Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Erykah Badu, Stevie Nicks, George Strait, DaBaby, and the lone electronic act, RÜFÜS DU SOL. While the headlining cast is not exactly electronic-forward, the fest’s undercard features a solid selection of talent. This includes Alison Wonderland, Ma...
As festivals finally return, it seems like each event is trying to outdo the competition by curating lineups that are a bit…unusual. This is a good thing! Usually, when these things are announced, there’s a logic behind who plays where. But yesterday’s Lollapalooza reveal had folks wondering what audience the event is for (apparently you can try to be everything for everyone) but today’s Austin City Limits lineup took that to another level, with a diverse slate of impressive acts. This year’s bill, which marks the fest’s 20th edition, will feature headlining artists George Strait, Billie Eilish, Stevie Nicks, Miley Cyrus, Erykah Badu, DaBaby and Rüfüs Du Sol. That’s some variety for you. Sure, there’s some of the 2021 standbys in the lineup, but that’s to be expected because you know, not ...
After the organizers of Governors Ball made the announcement earlier this year that the beloved three-day festival would be returning to Queens, it seems the festival’s 10th anniversary event is moving forward as scheduled. And while “plans” these days only mean so much, what holds more weight are lineup announcements, and this year’s edition has arrived. The lineup for Governors Ball 2021 is all-star, to stay the least. Set to take the stage will be a slew of superstar artists such as RÜFÜS DU SOL, Jamie XX, and Ellie Goulding, among many others. A-Trak will be throwing down on two separate occasions: first on Saturday with his brother—Dave 1 of Chromeo—as The Brothers Macklovitch, and again with Armand Van Helden...
After being canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Governors Ball is back with a brand new lineup and venue for 2021. If you were looking forward to spending Sept. 24-26 (which seems to be the official weekend of music festivals coming back) on Randall’s Island, there’s some bad news for you. This year’s festivities (which feature headliners of Billie Eilish, A$AP Rocky, and Post Malone) have been moved to Citi Field in Queens. Dozens of other notable names are on the lineup include Megan Thee Stallion, Phoebe Bridgers, Portugal. The Man, Freddie Gibbs & the Alchemist, Ellie Goulding, Young Thug, and Duck Sauce. It’ll also provide a “new experience” modeled after The Meadows Music and Arts Festival, which apparently allows stages to be closer together to cram a giant fes...
On Tuesday, Billie Eilish revealed that her anticipated sophomore album, Happier Than Ever, would be out later this year. The 18-year-old alt pop star also promised that she’d be releasing a new single on Thursday, aka today. And she did just that. Titled “Your Power,” the song starts off with acoustic strumming and is a tender ballad that’s delicate compared to anything she’s released before. Lyrics include “Try not to abuse your power / I know we didn’t choose to change / You might not wanna lose your power / But having it’s so strange.” Check out the video, which was directed by Eilish herself (her fourth self-directed video overall) and shot in Simi Valley, California, below. A day after teasing a new single on Instagram, Billie Eilish has announced that her anticipated second album, Happier Than Ever, will be released on July 30. If that’s not enough Eilish news for one day, she also revealed that she’ll be sharing a new song from that collection on Thursday, April 29. “this is my favorite thing i’ve ever created and i am so excited and nervous and EAGER for you to hear it. i can’t even tell you. i’ve never felt so much love for a project than i do for this one,” she wrote. See the full announcement in Eilish’s Instagram post below. In addition to the new album, she recorded the theme song for the forever-delayed James Bond movie, and in March, Eilish took home the Record of the Year Grammy for “everything I wanted,” which she also performed at the ceremo...
