Bicycles can be vehicles for change when the right people are the engines powering them. That virtue isn’t lost on avid cyclist Jamie Kemp, whose journey to this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event will be a byproduct of sweat and stamina. Kemp is the Director of Sales at Toolroom Records, an influential record label helmed by house music luminary Mark Knight. Alongside over 30 others, he’s set to cycle 500 kilometers —roughly 310 miles—from London to ADE, the world’s preeminent electronic music summit. Lagos assembly warns local councils against extorting courier, logistics operators
Pool Photo The Lagos House of Assembly on Monday ordered local government councils and local council development areas (LCDAs) in the state to desist from extorting and harrassing operators of courier and logistics services in the state. Mudashiru Obasa, the House speaker, said the local councils do not have the power to tax logistics and courier services. He said the power of the councils was limited to the registration of bicycles as dictated by the Constitution. Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Pauline Tallen has called for the establishment of children’s parliament in schools to aide planning and implementation of programmes affecting children. Tallen made the call on Tuesday in Abuja during an interaction with children in commemoration of the 16 days activism to end Gender Based Violence (GBV). Police: No vehicular movement in Maiduguri on Eid day
The Police Command in Borno has announced restriction on vehicular movement in Maiduguri metropolis during the Eid-el-Fitr prayers.
