The dispute is linked to a disagreement over the future of the How Sweet It Is music festival, which ran from 1999 to 2001. Rotella helped revive and finance the festival in 2005 but had a falling out with Alper and Ballou over the future of the event in 2010. Alper and Ballou claimed Rotella created a competing event called Beyond Wonderland, which still operates today, and that they were owed a piece of the festival. The legal fight went to arbitration, where the case was heard by Schiavelli, who eventually ruled against Alper and Ballou, saying the men bore most of the responsibility for the collapse of their relationship with Rotella and Insomniac due to their “cavalier and essentially non-negotiable attitude.” Schiavelli also noted that the lawsuit wasn’t filed against Insom...

There is perhaps no live music destination as idyllic and beautiful as The Gorge Amphitheatre. The Washington venue, which is largely considered one of the most scenic in the nation, has stood the test of time as one of the most popular among EDM fans. Now, Insomniac has announced the in-person 2021 return of its famed Beyond Wonderland festival at The Gorge. Insomniac hosted the “Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge Virtual Rave-A-Thon” back in June 2020 in the thick of the pandemic, and while it was an incredible virtual experience, it obviously didn’t come close to the physical version. The in-person fest is now set to return on June 18th and 19th, 2021 for “2 nights of Music, Art & Exploration + 3 magical nights of Camping,” accordin...

The fantasy Insomniac event has its sights set on returning to form at its long-held stomping ground, the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, on the weekend of June 25th and 26th. The festival has typically taken place in March, but in his announcement Pascale Rotella seemed eager to use the extra time for additional planning. “June 25 & 26 are actually old EDC dates & I loved them for the energy of that out-of-school, first huge party of the summer vibe,” he elaborated via social media. Beyond Wonderland had big plans for expansion in 2020, intending to additionally occupy the racetrack grounds at the NOS Events Center,...

While COVID-19 has made it difficult to enjoy live music without the use of drive-in theaters or socially distanced events, many artists and promoters have made the jump to the livestreaming world in an effort to deliver music to the masses. Not known for modest production, Insomniac naturally took things a step further and hosted entire virtual events complete with festival-grade lighting rigs and displays. Following their EDC Las Vegas-inspired iteration back in May, Pasquale Rotella and company took on their Pacific Northwest party for this weekend’s Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge Virtual Rave-a-Thon. Fans got to witness performances from 3LAU, LUCII, YehMe2, and more all before a closing performance from deadmau5‘s techno alter ego, TESTPILOT. ...
