Governor Ortom: No Grazing Routes in Benue
Benue State Governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom, has vowed the State will never cede a piece of land as grazing routes. In his funeral oration at the burial of Pa Daniel Akange Ape in Tse Ape, Mbaikyurav-Yar, Mbayegh, Ushongo Local Government Area at the weekend, Ortom said there is no grazing reserve or cattle routes in Benue. He said the anti-open grazing law in Benue State is in force and anyone who contravenes it would be arrested and prosecuted. Members of the House of Representatives have expressed sadness over the death of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and his entourage in an air crash in Kaduna. Attahiru, along with six senior officers and four crew members were onboard Nigerian Air Force Kingair 350 from Abuja to Kaduna, ahead of today’s passing out parade of soldiers from the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, when the crash happened amid torrential rainfall, on Friday evening. Women lament high cost of food items, consumables in Makurdi
Residents, particularly housewives in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, have lamented the increase in prices of food items. A survey conducted by NAN on Tuesday in Makurdi showed that prices of food items have been increasing on a daily basis. Many housewives interviewed by newsmen said that feeding their families has now become very difficult as the prices of essential food items have multiplied in the past few months. Catholic priest shot dead in Benue
A Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Ferdinand Fanen Ngugban, has been shot dead in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. Newsmen gathered that Fr. Ferdinand Ngugban of St. Augustine Aye Twar parish in Katsina Ala LGA was killed by bandits who raided the community and set many houses on fire.
