Nigeria star leads Club Brugge past FC Zenit St. Petersburg

Club Brugge began their 2020-21 Champions League campaign with a 2-1 triumph over Zenit St. Petersburg. Goals from Nigeria’s Emmanuel Dennis and Charles De Ketelaere scored the goals as Philippe Clement’s men silenced the Russian Premier League title holders at Krestovsky Stadium. The Belgians went into the encounter without goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, Cote d’Ivoire’s Odilon Kossounou and Michael Krmencik, who are in isolation after contracting Covid-19, while Simon Deli was unavailable due to suspension. Super Eagles striker bags brace for Belgian club

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has continued his impressive goal-scoring form for his Belgian club RKC Genk; scoring twice in Monday night’s 2-2 draw against Oostende in one of the Belgium Jupiler League ties. Genk were playing at home at their Luminus Arena against Oostende and it was the away side who opened the scoring in the 3rd minute through Cameron McGeehan. Onuachu pulled his side level with his 9th-minute equaliser before going on to complete his brace in the 52nd minute and made the game 2-1. However, Senegal forward Makhtar Gueye denied Onuachu and his teammates the maximum points as he restored parity for Oostende seven minutes from time; thus ending the game 2-2. Nigerian striker tests positive for coronavirus

Few days after opening his goals account for the season, Nigerian forward David Okereke has tested positive for coronavirus. Okereke’s Belgian team Club Brugge in a short statement on their official website on Tuesday confirmed the positive status of their Nigerian forward. The club wrote: “Attacker David Okereke took a positive Corona test this morning. The attacker was immediately quarantined and will be retested next week.” Okereke has thus become the third high-profile Nigeria player to test positive for Coronavirus. Cyriel Dessers, Paul Onuachu on target in Genk’s defeat at Beershot

Cyriel Dessers and Paul Onuachu were on target for Genk who lost 5-2 away to Beershot in the Belgian Jupiler on Monday night. Onuachu scored in the 19th minute to make it 1-1 while Dessers converted a 76th minute penalty which brought the score to 3-2. French club, LOSC Lille have issued an official statement to wish former player, Victor Osimhen, the very best of luck after the Nigeria striker completed his move to Napoli. Belgian First Division B side Lommel SK is on the verge of completing a move for Nigeria striker Kadiri Attah from Swedish side, Ostersund, for a reported fee of €1.3 million. KRC Genk has confirmed that Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has fully recovered from the ravaging coronavirus. Emmanuel Dennis’ Club Brugge have been finally crowned Belgian champions, with Gent joining them in the Champions League, while Charleroi, Antwerp and Standard Liege go into the Europa League.
