Dave Grohl Reads Ringo Starr’s Bedtime Story Octopus’s Garden: Watch

Dave Grohl was the latest guest on the BBC’s CBeebies, choosing as his bedtime story the 2014 children’s book Octopus’s Garden by Ringo Starr. Grohl began by saying that his favorite books take him to places he wishes he could visit. He added, “I love this story because it was written by someone who plays the drums — just like me!” Octopus’s Garden is based on Starr’s own song of the same name from Abbey Road, with illustrations by Ben Cort. Some of Cort’s whimsical drawings are flashed across the screen, or else the video would be indistinguishable from Grohl reciting the lyrics to a The Beatles’ song in a calming voice. Iggy Pop Reads a Bedtime Story About His Beloved His Dog

Artist Maurizio Cattelan’s”Bedtime Stories” is a new initiative for NYC’s The New Museum in which musicians and other creators reading short tales in a soothing voice. The inaugural edition features Iggy Pop and his beloved dog Tromba. This is not your typical bedtime story, and should probably not be played for small children. While it begins with Iggy Pop falling in love with a stray “across the divided highway,” the story climaxes with Tromba’s death some time later after being hit by a car. But even so, the punk icon’s affection for the dog is never in doubt, and he peppers the story with moments of humor. “I picked you up and put you on my lap and thought about keeping you,” he said, “and in less than a minute I was covered in fleas.” He ends the tale with a touching message for ...

Daniel Radcliffe Reads Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone For Fans At Home

Not even quarantine can stop the magic of Harry Potter. Starting today, the entirety of the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, will be read aloud one chapter at a time by a rotating cast of celebrities, including the great wizard himself, Daniel Radcliffe. Each chapter will be free to stream in both video and audiobook form. Fittingly, Radcliffe leads the way and pages through chapter one, “The Boy Who Lived”, his voice steady yet animated enough to delight franchise fans young and old.
