Aside from their infectious songs, BTS is also known for their impeccable style. In a new interview with GQ, the septet revealed who their biggest style heroes are–and those who inspired them are pretty diverse. While Jungkook takes style notes from bandmate RM, RM from painters Whanki Kim and Hyong Keun Yun and V from his father, J-Hope shared a more unusual source for inspiration: The beloved dog Snoopy from the Peanuts series. “He gives me a fun way to express myself,” he said. “I own Snoopy clothes and pajamas. I think you should try everything you want. That way, you get to understand what works and doesn’t work for you and this will build your own style.” Jin agreed with that sentiment, crowning himself as his biggest style hero...

Beastie Boys’ ’90s Punk Record ‘Aglio E Olio’ Hits Streaming Services: Listen

The Beastie Boys are back, sort of. The Hall of Fame inducted hip-hop crew have finally released Aglio E Olio on streaming services, a quarter century after they cut it. Aglio E Olio represents the Beasties in full-on punk mode. Its eight tracks are raw, high-octane and, at just 11 minutes in total, the EP has more pace than Usain Bolt. Think “Heart Attack Man” from Ill Communication, their classic album from 1994. Recorded the following year, in 1995, the EP was originally released on CD and 12″ vinyl record by the band’s now-defunct label Grand Royal. Amery “AWOL” Smith, drummer with Los Angeles thrash veterans Suicidal Tendencies, guests on the record alongside Ad-Rock, Mike D and the late MCA. Department of Justice Argues TikTok Employee Can’t Stop Trump’s ByteDance Ban

The Department of Justice argues a TikTok employee’s fear that the executive order banning transactions with Beijing-based parent ByteDance will keep him from getting paid isn’t enough to warrant a temporary restraining order that would keep the Department of Commerce from enforcing it. President Donald Trump on Aug. 6 issued an order that would bar “any transaction by any person” with ByteDance or any of its subsidiaries. TikTok on Aug. 24 sued, arguing its due process and first amendment rights were being violated. The same day, a technical program manager named Patrick Ryan sued Trump and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross Jr. arguing that the vaguely worded ban on transactions between U.S. persons and ByteDance could mean that he can’t get paid. Earlie...

Kelsea Ballerini’s Quarantine Album ‘Ballerini’ Is Here: Stream It Now

The pandemic hasn’t slowed Kelsea Ballerini. The two-time Grammy nominated artist released Kelsea back in March, a full-length album that peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 200. Today sees the arrival of Ballerini, the unplugged follow-up and companion album to Kelsea. For the new album, the country star returned to all 13 tracks and viewed them through the lens of lockdown. They were deconstructed, reinterpreted and re-recorded during quarantine, this time stripped back to raw emotions. Of the projects, Ballerini explains: “Kelsea is glitter: bold and effervescent and dreams that are boundless. She’s who I want to be. While Ballerini is emotional, vulnerable, soft: observes her surroundings and chooses her words carefully. She’s who I am.” The new album features the previously released “cl...

Marilyn Manson’s ‘We Are Chaos’ Album Is Here: Stream It Now

The year 2020 has been filled with chaos. Today, Marilyn Manson bring his own special brand. The goth-rock icon drops We Are Chaos, his 11th studio album and the followup to 2017’s Heaven Upside Down. Manson’s Chaos is a reflection of these difficult times. “When I listen to We Are Chaos now, it seems like just yesterday or as if the world repeated itself, as it always does, making the title track and the stories seem as if we wrote them today,” Manson said of the new album, which he reportedly completed in April. The rocker finished all 10 tracks without any additional, outside input. “There is most definitely a side A and side B in the traditional sense,” he continues. “But just like an LP, it is a flat circle and it’s up to the listener to put the last piece of the puzzle into the pictu...

U.S. Recorded Music Business Still Growing (A Bit) Amid Pandemic: RIAA 2020 Mid-Year Report

The good news: The U.S. recorded-music business was still in an upswing in the first half of 2020, growing 5.6% at retail to $5.7 billion, up from $5.4 billion, continuing a trend of growth that extends back to the industry’s nadir in 2015. The less-good news: That growth, like most everything else in the music business and beyond so far this year, took a pandemic-related hit, ending a short streak of double-digit gains after a 17% boost at mid-year 2017, 10% at mid-year 2018 and 18% at mid-year 2019. Of course, percentage-based growth, by its nature, is always increasingly-difficult to improve upon, and once-in-a-generation pandemics were never going to help keep that streak alive. And within that context there’s still plenty of good news for the industry in its continued recovery amid th...

The cable outlet has ordered 10 episodes of Go-Big Show, which will feature “supersized talents” including monster truck drivers, alligator trainers and stunt archers, among others. The show has begun production in Macon, Georgia; host Bert Kreischer and judges Snoop Dogg, Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Nettles and Cody Rhodes announced the series Wednesday night in a promo that aired across TBS and sister networks TNT and TruTV. “Go-Big Show celebrates unique, untraditional and unforgettable American talent,” said Corie Henson, executive vp and head of unscripted programming for TBS, TNT and TruTV. “Each contestant brings tremendous heart and swagger...
