Red Bull Dance Your Style Miami Was A Fitting Precursor For U.S. Finals In Washington D.C.

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Red Bull / Red Bull Content Pool Dance is often explained as movements set to rhythm and while that is indeed accurate, the description fails to capture the artform’s many complexities. This past weekend in Miami, the final Red Bull Dance Your Style qualifier event ahead of the U.S. Finals provided thrills, twists, and turns, not unlike the skills displayed by the syle masters who took to the dance floor. Hosted in the sunny backdrop of The Magic City, Red Bull Dance Your Style Miami was held at the world-famous LIV and hosted by Florida native and multifaceted entertainer, MyVerse. Unlike Red Bull BC One where there existed a panel of guest judges, this event featured no judges, no pre-chosen music, and an innovative fan vote feature that, at times, spar...

REWIND: Red Bull SoundClash 2021 To Kick Off On November 30

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Red Bull / Red Bull The culture of the sound clash — where two sound systems helmed by a DJ or MC battle one another — dates back to the 1950s and has evolved over the years into other forms of musical competition. Taking inspiration from the sound system clashes of lore, RedBull SoundClash uses the same model but this time featuring two artists, musical groups, or DJs to take on one another while using the crowd’s reaction to their performances measured by a decibel meter to determine the winner of the rounds across four rounds. Egyptian TikTok influencer to appeal 10-year trafficking sentence

Egyptian TikTok influencer Haneen Hossam will appeal a 10-year prison sentence handed down by a Cairo court that found her guilty of human trafficking, her lawyer said on Monday. In the latest twist in a nearly year-long saga, the court also fined the 20-year-old Cairo University student 200 000 Egyptian pounds ($13 000) on Sunday for encouraging women to share footage on the video-sharing app in exchange for money. “We will demand restoration of the case proceedings because there are contradictions between the verdict and the merits on which the court’s decision is based,” said lawyer Hani Sameh. “We hope that she can get a reduced jail sentence or an acquittal,” he told the Thomson Reuters Foundation. Several women have been accused of “inciting debauchery” for challenging Egypt’s conser...
