The Police Command in Katsina State has killed 15 bandits and arrested 50 suspected kidnappers, bandits and cattle rustlers terrorising the people of the state. Mr Sanusi Buba, the Commissioner of Police in the state, disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday in Katsina. Buba said that the suspects were arrested in variou ambush operations carried out by the command in different locations. He said that the police recovered nine AK 47 rifles, 20 dane guns, 20 motorcycles and two vehicles from the suspects. Thirteen people died on Friday when villagers fought back against armed cattle thieves in Katsina State where rustling has been on the increase. Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has assured Katsina State residents that the Nigeria Air force ‘Operation Harbin Daji’ against bandits, kidnappers, cattle rustlers and armed robbers would be different. No fewer than 200 bandits on Thursday night reportedly attacked Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing a man identified as Alaramma Kano, 57, while injuring three other persons who were rushed to the hospital. Eyewitnesses said the bandits carried out attacks on two villages in the area at about 11.30 pm and rustled some cows.
