Even fashion expert Alexa Chung showcased her cosiest jumper on Instagram lately, and ever since, I’ve been keeping a mental list of the best styles I’ve come across, both online and on a couple of recent trips to Oxford Street. Of course, knitwear is hitting the stores thick and fast now that the clocks have gone back and the temperature has dropped significantly. Everyone from H&M and Zara to Net-a-Porter and MATCHESFASHION.COM has some gorgeous styles I just want to wrap myself up in, and no doubt, you will too. Keep scrolling to see my edit of the 26 best cosy jumpers out there right now, from cable-knits to cashmere polo necks. It’s clear that we’re all going to be on a bit of a tighter budget this winter, but that doesn’t help the fact that we still want our wardrobes to look chic, elevated and, well, expensive. That’s why I thought I’d put my shopping-expert talents to good use and pull together an edit of the most impressive, expensive-looking winter basics I’ve seen so far this season—all under £75. We Who What Wear editors spend a lot of time scrolling through both designer and high-street collections, comparing and considering where to invest and where to save. Some pieces, like a beautiful leather bag or classic coat, are worth spending a bit more on so that you don’t have to repeat-buy. But from my cold-weather wardrobe research this year, th...
My top pick, however, has to be the brand’s Mason Pants. The perfect wide-leg trousers—and I don’t say that lightly. I’ve tried a lot of wide-legs in my time and these are the only pair I’ve actually invested in this year. They were so good, in fact, that I bought them in both beige and black, and now I’m rarely spotted without them. Unsurprisingly, they’re one of the brand’s best-selling hero products, and come in eleven colours as well as petite and extended sizing options. Made from unbelievably comfortable TENCEL™ Lyocell, a more sustainable fabric that also happens to fall perfectly, there’s no bulky pockets or unflattering pleats in sight. Kaia Gerber is also a fan—she was spotted wearing her brown pair to the farmer’s market in LA earlier this year. She’s right, they’re ...

Show me someone who doesn’t like to make their life easier, and you’ll be showing me a liar. There are shortcuts some of us purposefully seek out for a breezier time (read: more minutes in bed), and those are the ones you particularly need at this time of year when the schedule is chaotic. It’s in these moments that you a) deserve to know how to have a capsule wardrobe and use it to get ready in a few short moments and b) that you need to lean on a few clever items that do a lot of the prep work, the legwork and the faffing around for you. A worker is nothing without their tools, and no matter how organised or efficient you may be, it’s always worth investing in the gadgets that are top of the range and are going to help—not hinder—your busy calendar. So keep readin...
Here at Who What Wear, we love to talk about wardrobe classics. Knits, denim, amazing boots…there are some items that are just born to be part of a capsule wardrobe. But on my recent Instagram scroll I discovered that there was one such item that doesn’t get nearly as much air time, and that’s sweatshirts. From slogan emblazoned to embroidered logos and vintage washed out vibes to hoodies and cropped silhouettes, it’s true that the best sweatshirts come in all shapes and sizes. There’s something about a slogan sweatshirt that just instantly pulls a cosy autumn look together. Whether it’s the iconic image of Diana running errands around town in her oversized number or the myriad of influencers we’ve spotted on instagram in slogan styles, the ob...

Having worked in fashion for 15 years now, it’s safe to say I have tried a lot of steamers out. I’ve worked with industrial-sized steamers on the most high profile and high octane of shoots, but I’ve also given many a home clothing steamer a go in a panic to get out of the door looking less creased in a jiffy. So when there’s a potential fashion gadget sale opportunity—like Amazon’s Prime Day Early Access Sale (don’t dwell on the disastrously un-catchy promo name, just focus on the deals)—then that’s when it’s a good time for me to share my expertise in the world of garment care. For the uninitiated, Amazon’s sale today (Oct 11) and tomorrow (Oct 12) is for Prime members who can look at these offers ahead of the general u...
I’m a petite size 12 and the world of trousers is not one that I can easily inhabit. Finding perfect-fit pants on the high street (or from designer brands) is like a needle in a haystack and it is incredibly rare that I can buy a pair of jeans or trousers without having to factor in the remedial work of hems needing to be taken up or waistbands needing to be taken in to accommodate my waist-to-thigh ratio. Fortunately, I’m not too shabby when it comes to sewing (thanks, fashion design degree!) but in all honestly I don’t have time for absorbing yet another life admin task or the budget to keep carting everything I own off to a tailor. It’s why you’ll often find me wearing dresses and skirts rather than trousers, but 2022 is nothing if ...
“Zara does the best blazers with a great flattering shoulder structure for all body shapes,” she explains. “Arket has the best knitwear and their oversized roll-necks look far more expensive than they are thanks to their lux looking cut. I have hunted high and low—even in price point—for the ultimate oversized white shirt, and & Other Stories have the dream one. It’s the right level of oversized, and its finishings won’t swamp you.” Charlotte has created a list of the 27 items you need in your wardrobe. “[It’s been] a development and research process, but I feel with the exception of two trend pieces that change per month, the rest are timeless,” she says. “You could use this season’s bodysuit under a blazer instead of a white shirt and team with impeccably tailored wide-leg trousers t...
Age is clearly just a number. And in no way should the year you were born have anything to do with your sartorial choices. That said, I often tap women over 50 for top-notch style guidance given their more experienced fashion point of view and their trial-and-error experience with style. In fact, the group of chic women over 50 below are some of my favourites for shopping inspiration. After I recently scrolled through their feeds, it became evident that there are specific staples and elevated basics that are essential for them. And yes, I want to add all of these pieces to my own wardrobe if I haven’t already. (Ahem, slouchy blazers.) Keep scrolling to check out the items these influencers wear on repeat along with inspired shopping picks if you’re interested in ...
