RayRay‘s debut album, Unearthly World, tells a unique story while positioning the Taiwanese trailblazer as a major talent to watch in dance music. Unearthly World is a masterful display of RayRay’s artistic range. “Wide Awake,” written and sung by RayRay herself, kicks off the album with groovy trap rhythms and infectious future bass energy. Meanwhile, “404” flips the script with its distorted kicks and energetic vocals while “Full Speed” (with ØZI) and “Just Like You” (with Patrick Brasca) make for genre-bending and tasteful takes on bass music. “Don’t Need It” and “Losing My Mind” (with Dirty Audio) are fierce yet intricate dancefloor gems. And “Succubus,” the album’s sultry closer, combines abstract melodic elements with brisk percussion and rumbling bass...

Self-empowerment is the name on the game on RayRay‘s new single, “Butterfly,” a melodic bass ballad written with fellow Taiwanese producer JVNA. Featuring a slow-burning bassline and sultry, hypnotic vocals, the collab is an ode to their experiences in the music industry as women, as well as the lessons they’ve taught themselves along the way. Creepy and crawling, otherworldly and unyielding, “Butterfly” builds like lightning on the horizon with minimalistic percussion and sensuous lyricism: “Watch me as I go and take a leap / Try to make the dreams my reality.” Meanwhile, deep bass grows beneath the surface, waiting to overtake you with a thunderous drop. The track, RayRay says, is one of her favorite songs from her forthcomi...
Acclaimed house music duo Moksi have finally unveiled their first album in three years, Free Moksi. One of Barong Family’s most celebrated names, the Dutch powerhouse tandem have taken the world of dance music by storm since 2015 with their vibrant and bass-heavy sound, while collaborating with the likes of Yellow Claw, DJ Snake Hardwell and many more. Free Moksi harkens back to the U.K.-influenced, forward-thinking sound design heard in the duo’s earlier works, but laces it with an array of new ideas, exciting collabs and contemporary sonics. The simplistic yet chaotic “After the After” (with Dread MC) does a great job at introducing listeners to the immersive world of Free Moksi, which only gets more intense with tracks like “Shout Like” (with LexBlaze) and “Keeping It Real” (...
Put down your coffee and turn up your speakers, because EDM mainstays Yellow Claw have found an unmatched solution for early mornings and midday slumps: “Bassgod,” their latest single, with Ramengvrl and label-mates Sihk and Juyen Sebulba. With rave sirens, crashing percussion and soaring sound design, it’ll have you singing your praises to the “holy bass god,” as Ramengvrl raps, in no time. “I’ve made a few tracks together with Sihk, but this one is totally different than what came before (2020’s “The Emo Song”). Ho...
Get your trap elbows up because Dirty Audio and NXSTY have dropped the curtain on their highly anticipated collab “Inferno.” After a number major artists in trap and bass music supported the unreleased tune, including Henry Fong, Wuki, ETC!ETC!, and UZ, it is finally now out via Yellow Claw‘s Barong Family banner. Dirty Audio, who is setting 2020 on fire, is following up his equally heavily-supported single “Blue Steel” with Tucker Kreway. “Inferno” gets right into it. The snare quickly builds into the hook before Dirty Audio and NXSTY unveil a filthy, screeching trap beat in the first drop. The drop is reminiscent of Dirty Audio’s breakthrough single “Gettin’ That,” but with more of a quirky yet heavy-hitting feel. The swit...
A new single released on Yellow Claw‘s Barong Family imprint is being accused of ripping off an unreleased Skrillex song. The Barong Family release in question, a song called “Better Days” by bass producer So Dope, is being dragged through the mud on both SoundCloud and Reddit for its blatant similarities to an unreleased song by Skrillex with the widely adopted title “El Dorado.” One diligent Redditer took it upon himself to line up each song in his digital audio workstation to demonstrate each track side-by-side. You can watch that video below. For a deeper dive into the songs in question, listen to “Better Days” by So Dope in full below and compare it to the ensuing video of Skrillex debuting “El Dorado” to his fans via Instagra...
