Banksy Encourages Fans to Steal From GUESS: “They’ve Helped Themselves to My Artwork Without Asking”

Banksy believes GUESS lifted his artwork for its new clothing line, so he’s encouraging his fans to steal the clothes right back. The anonymous artist posted about the fashion company on November 18th with the message, “Attention all shoplifters. Please go to GUESS on Regent Street. They’ve helped themselves to my artwork without asking, how can it be wrong for you to do the same to their clothes?” Banksy’s post includes a photo of GUESS’ London shop, which features a window display of t-shirts and jackets adorned with the artist’s Thug for Life bunny. Behind the clothes is a blown up print of Banksy’s famous depiction of a man throwing flowers. Christopher Walken Intentionally Destroyed a Banksy Painting

Christopher Walken recently got to do something virtually unthinkable: destroy a Banksy painting. On purpose. The moment occurred as the actor was filming the season finale of the BBC One series The Outlaws, which aired Wednesday (November 10th). In the scene, Walken’s character — Frank — covers up the Banksy original featuring the anonymous artist’s signature rat while doing community service. “We can confirm that the artwork at the end of The Outlaws was an original Banksy, and that Christopher Walken painted over that artwork during the filming of this scene, ultimately destroying it,” a BBC spokesperson said in a statement after the episode aired. Banksy Claims Reading Prison Artwork with Happy Little Video Featuring Bob Ross

A provocative work of street art appeared on the walls of Reading Prison on Monday, and now Banksy has claimed it as his own using a happy little video with Bob Ross. The image shows a prisoner sliding down bedsheets that are tied together and anchored by a typewriter. As the BBC reports, some observers have noted a resemblance between the escaping con and Reading’s most famous inmate Oscar Wilde, who was sentenced to two years hard labor for gross indecency with other men, and who celebrated his release with the poem “The Ballad of Reading Gaol”. While the graffiti appeared to be in Banksy’s style, the author wasn’t confirmed until today, March 4th, when the guerrilla artist shared a video called “Create Escape”. It used archival commentary from the late, great Bob Ross, overlaying his wo...

Banksy’s New Artwork Was Inspired by Coronavirus and… Chumbawamba

Bansky is at it again. The secretive English street artist, known for his provocative takes on everything from the high society art world to Paris Hilton’s debut album, has commented on the coronavirus pandemic in his latest piece — all while sneaking in a Chumbawamba reference, because of course he did. Banksy announced his new piece via a video on his Instagram page. Entitled “if you don’t mask – you don’t get”, the artwork was “installed” on a London Underground train, and consists of his own tag sprayed in that familiar shade of N95 mask blue, surrounded by stenciled rats, a common motif in his work. One of the rats uses a face mask as a parachute while another sneezes, shooting blue liquid everywhere — it represents the novel coronavirus’ dynamic aerosol efficiency, duh! The enigmatic...
