Nigeria’s position in global terrorism ranking disappointing, embarrassing – APC group

APC Consolidation Group, a group in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC-CG, has described Nigeria’s latest ranking as third in the Global Terrorism Index, GTI, as not only disappointing but also embarrassing. Nigerian Army’s Operation Sahel Sanity extended by three months

The Nigeria Army has extended Operation Sahel Sanity, which is fighting banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling in the North West, to December. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, made the disclosure at a press conference at the Army Supper Camp 4, Faskari, Katsina, on Saturday. Pool Photo The leadership of the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN) in Kaduna has directed its members to Annual General Conference (AGC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) following the withdrawal of Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s invitation by the NBA. Governor El-Rufai was one of the speakers billed to speak at the 60th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association. But the National Executive Council of the NBA withdrew the governor’s invitation after a group of lawyers protested against the governor’s presence at the conference. The lawyers had argued that inviting El-Rufai to speak at the event is a ‘reward for misrule,’ adding that the governor does not represent what the NBA stands for. Nasarawa governor raises alarm over Islamic sect

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has on Wednesday raised an alarm over the presence of Darus Salam sect in the state. Governor Sule, who attributed the recent kidnappings and banditry in the state to the dreaded Darus Salam group, appealed to the federal government for deployment of more security personnel to the state to handle the situation.
