The Queen of Pop’s first project from her career-spanning global partnership with Warner Music is officially on the way: a retrospective album called Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones. Madonna remains the only recording artist to net 50 #1 hits on the Billboard charts. In celebration of the milestone, she will release the collection, which boasts 50 alternate versions and remixes of her music by some of electronic music’s most esteemed artists. Among the tracks is Avicii‘s beloved remix of “Girl Gone Wild,” a gem of the late dance music icon’s early era of mainstream success. Avicii and Madonna famously appeared together on the Ultra Music Festival Mainstage in 2012, a performance that marked the start of a working relationship which saw the two j...
Four years after Avicii‘s tragic death, Aloe Blacc has shared a touching tribute to his longtime friend and creative collaborator. In remembrance of the late dance music legend, Blacc has released a video wherein he performs a “Universal Language” version of their collaborative mega-hit, “Wake Me Up.” Music often serves as a way for people separated by language barriers to communicate, so the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter performed his new version in three languages: Mandarin, Spanish and English. “Avicii’s music touched the world. Writing the lyrics and recording the vocals on ‘Wake Me Up’ was a transformative experience for me,” Blacc wrote in the caption of the video. “Everywhere I’ve been, no matter the country, music lovers and fans...
It turns out there are even more hidden gems in Avicii‘s archives, two of which we’ve learned are collaborations with Tiësto. In a new interview with Level One, Tiësto says he and Avicii were initially excited about one particular track they had in the pipeline, but it was still unfinished. However, upon the Swedish superstar’s tragic death, Tiësto, like so many of Avicii’s collaborators, ultimately found himself uncertain as to what Avicii would have wanted to do with the track. “We made a track together years ago and we wanted to release it. Actually, I have two tracks with him,” Tiësto recalls. “We never really finished both of them. After he passed away. I didn’t know if he would have wanted them to be released; so I decided not ...
The museum dedicated to the dance music legend Avicii was welcomed to Stockholm by some royal guests. To celebrate the grand opening of The Avicii Experience, Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia stopped by to honor one of their country’s musical icons and cut the ribbon to inaugurate the museum. They were joined by some of the executives behind the exhibit and Klas Bergling, father of Avicii and creator of the Tim Bergling Foundation. Proceeds from the museum will support the foundation’s goal to destigmatize mental health and prevent suicides. The Avicii Experience will serve as an interactive look at the iconic “Levels” producer’s rise to fame. It starts with a recreation of his childhood bedroom and moves through his increasingly ...
“I’m into meditation and positive thinking, but my default mode is the opposite,” Mike Posner said in the opening moments of his Impaulsive debut. In a new interview on Logan Paul’s flagship podcast, Posner recaps his accomplishments walking across America and climbing Mount Everest, all while holding down a demanding professional music career. However, Posner’s trajectory as an artist was not without its bumps. Speaking with EDM.com in November, he recalled that it was during one of the most uncertain times in his career that Avicii called on him to work. First flying out to Stockholm to link with the dance music legend in the studio, then accompanying him to Ibiza for a show, the experience set the stage for what would become one of Posner’s...

Måns Mosesson’s new book, Tim – The Official Biography of Avicii, illuminates the iconic dance music artist’s day-to-day sentiments and struggles with mental illness in ways that have not presented previously. The biography includes personal journal entries from the 28-year-old “Wake Me Up” producer, who tragically died by suicide in Oman back in 2018. Written during his hospitalized stays for drug and alcohol abuse, the entries showcase Avicii‘s persistent struggle to break the cycle. “I had a hard time accepting never drinking again though strongly suggested from all doctors to wait at least a year before even having a beer,” Avicii wrote, per The Daily Beast. “Of course, I didn’t listen to the majority of the doctors, I listened to th...
In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Avicii‘s father, Klas Bergling, continues to advocate for the mental health of rising musicians. Though there’s a natural, innate discomfort around the conversation of suicide, Bergling isn’t shying away from the term. “You should call things what they are,” he told The Times. Bergling also shows he has no hesitations about confronting difficult memories related to his son’s passing head-on. In the immediate aftermath of Avicii’s heartbreaking death, conversations swirled around the circumstances that could have led to such a tragedy. Ultimately, Bergling attributes some of the reason to a lack of structure in the midst of his son’s meteoric rise to fame. “It’s fame and fortune, and t...
On this day, 11 years ago, dance music history was made with Avicii‘s “Levels” debut on one of the biggest public platforms in EDM: BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix. Avicii may not have known it at the time, but this mix would include the one of the earliest versions of arguably his most iconic work. Listening back on the near two-hour performance is like opening up a sonic time capsule. At the outset, Pete Tong delivers a goosebumps-inducing introduction of Avicii: “He’s the 21 year old Tim Bergling from Stockholm, who’s enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame,” Tong said. “He only released his first tune “ManMan” two years ago.” To add further context, Tong goes on to praise Avicii’s recent work in “My Feelings ...
Artists from around the world came together this week to celebrate the life and legacy of Avicii, who has been sorely missed by the global music community since his tragic death in 2018. Hosted at the newly minted Avicii Arena in Stockholm, the inaugural “Together For a Better Day” concert was organized by The Tim Bergling Foundation in order to de-stigmatize mental health and raise awareness of rising rates of suicide in young people. Featured performers included Zara Larsson, Miriam Bryant, and Swedish dance music duo Galantis. Also making an appearance was 15-year-old Ella Tiritiello, who went viral earlier this year for a live rendition of Avicii’s 2015 song, “For A Better Day.” She took the stage alongside Larsson to sing the tra...
