The actor went on: “Someone recently said, ‘Avatar is coming out,’ and I said, ‘Oh, it hasn’t come out yet?’ I will never work...

James Cameron Says Marvel and DC Characters “Act Like They’re in College”

James Cameron has joined the ranks of esteemed directors who have criticized comic book movies. In a New York Times interview, he said Marvel and DC characters don’t weigh the risks like the heroes in his new movie, Avatar: The Way of Water, who are now parents. According to Cameron, they instead “act like they’re in college” regardless of their personal lives. “When I look at these big, spectacular films — I’m looking at you, Marvel and DC — it doesn’t matter how old the characters are, they all act like they’re in college,” Cameron said. “They have relationships, but they really don’t. They never hang up their spurs because of their kids. The things that really ground us and give us power, love, and a purpose? Those characters don’t experience it, and I think that’s not the way to m...

It’s looking better than it ever looked, even back in its initial release,” Cameron explained during a recent virtual press conference. The re-release earned $10 million domestically, which put it at third behind Don’t Worry Darling and The Woman King. It added another $20.5 million internationally, including N...

Along with today’s news also comes an updated trailer, which you can watch below. Avatar was the highest-grossing film of all time until Avengers: Endgame dethroned it in 2019. A 2021 reissue in China bumped Avatar back up to its No. 1 spot, however, and we’ll bet this re-release will further cement its status. Upon its original release, Avatar nabbed nine Academy Awards nominations — including for Best Picture and Best Director — and wound up taking home the trophies for Best Cinematography, Production Design, and Visual Effects. It stars Sam Worthin...
