Aubrey Plaza Pranked Her White Lotus Co-Stars by Putting Blair Witch Symbols in Their Dressing Rooms

Aubrey Plaza plays a normie lawyer on Season 2 of The White Lotus, but she was up to her usual tricks on the set of the HBO comedy. In a new GQ profile, Plaza owned up to pranking her White Lotus co-stars by planting Blair Witch-style symbols in their dressing rooms — and pretending it wasn’t her. Adam DiMarco was Plaza’s first victim. He came back to his dressing room in Italy and discovered the room’s reed diffusers arranged in an ominous symbol on the floor. After that, to throw her co-stars off the scent, Plaza ravaged her own room. “Who did this?” she asked Haley Lu Richardson and Meghann Fahy. Maybe it was a poltergeist, she suggested. Of course, the staff at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace — which the cast took over for five months of shooting — knew it was ...

Aubrey Plaza Cast in WandaVision Spinoff Agatha: Coven of Chaos

Aubrey Plaza will join Kathryn Hahn in the upcoming WandaVision spinoff Agatha: Coven of Chaos, reports Variety. In the Marvel series, Hahn will reprise her career-defining role as Agatha Harkness, but details about the show are scarce. What we do know, however, is Emma Caulfield Ford will also return from WandaVision as Dottie along with head writer and executive producer Jac Schaefer. Heartstopper actor Joe Locke will also star in Coven of Chaos. We named WandaVision our best TV show of 2021 in no small part due to the performance of Hahn, who nailed a transformation from Wanda’s chipper next-door neighbor Agnes to Salem Witch Trial survivor Agatha Harkness. During the finale of WandaVision, Wanda neutralizes Agatha’s formidable powers. Advertiseme...

Aubrey Plaza “Freaked Out” Robert De Niro: “I Did Some Questionable Things”

Aubrey Plaza is known for playing intense characters in projects like Parks and Rec and Ingrid Goes West, but in a recent panel promoting her upcoming movie Emily the Criminal, the actor admitted she took her method acting too far while working with Robert De Niro on the set of 2016’s Dirty Grandpa. While speaking at a London Film Festival ScreenTalk session (via Variety) on Monday (October 10th), Plaza said one of her agents “heard Bob’s a little freaked out” during the filming of Dirty Grandpa, in which she played a character named Lenore whose “one goal” was to have sex with De Niro’s Dick Kelly. “I didn’t have time to get to know him, he shows up in a puff of smoke and there’s no chatting at the water cooler,” Plaza explained. “By the time he’d show up, I’m in character. My c...

Review: Aubrey Plaza Breaks Bad in the Tense Thriller Emily the Criminal

This review was part of our coverage of the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.  The Pitch: Emily (Aubrey Plaza) just can’t catch a break. She’s a college dropout, reeling from a felony aggravated assault conviction that follows her to every job interview, tens of thousands of dollars in student loan debt weighing her down like a ball and chain. It’s calcified her to the world, approaching each new interview just waiting for the next reason she’ll be rejected. All she’s got to her name are her wits and a can of pepper spray. But a rare opportunity appears when a coworker at her degrading catering gig turns her onto a way to make some extra money: show up at a warehouse at the proper hour, perform a small-scale credit card scam with boosted flatscreens, and you earn $200 in an hour. You ...

Scott Pilgrim Cast Reunites for 10th Anniversary Script Read-Through

For the 10th anniversary of Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, the film’s cast recently filmed a dramatic read-through of the original script. The benefit event was remotely recorded in May, and will premiere on EW.com “later this summer,” at a time to be determined. Based on graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Scott Pilgrim vs the World was seen as a box office letdown upon its 2010 release, but has since achieved a devoted cult following. It stars Michael Cera as 22 year-old bassist Scott Pilgrim, as he battles the “evil exes” of his would-be girlfriend Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). Both actors participated in the reunion, as did Jason Schwartzman, Satya Bhabha, Chris Evans, Ellen Wong, Mark Webber, Alison Pill, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Mae Whitman, a...
