Gunmen abduct passengers in Osun

Three days after rumours of an attack by criminal herdsmen forced parents to hastily withdraw their wards from schools in Osogbo, Osun State capital, gunmen have abducted yet to be specified number of persons in Obokun Local Government Area, LGA of the State. The sad event occurred on Monday afternoon when a commercial bus conveying the passengers was halted at close to Imesi Ile area of the state. The Nation reports that the commercial vehicle from Ekiti was going toward Ikirun through Ila road when the gunmen waylaid it at Odo-Osun and took passengers to a nearby bush. Akwa Ibom: Police confirm attack on station

The police command in Akwa Ibom has confirmed Saturday’s attack on its Udung Uko Divisional Police Headquarters by gunmen. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Odiko MacDon, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Udung Uko in Akwa Ibom on Sunday. Mr Macdon, a superintendent of police, said the situation would have been worse but for the gallant policemen on duty who repelled the attack. Police escort, driver of APC chieftain shot dead in Delta

The police escort and driver of an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Delta state, Chief Michael Johnny, were killed on Sunday by gunmen in an attempted kidnap attack at Airport Junction, Uvwie council area of Delta state. According to reports from sources, his wife was target of the attack, which occurred at about 11:12am. However, she was reportedly said to be attending a church service when the suspects struck. Acting Delta spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and dismissed allegations that the woman was kidnapped. IMN: Sheikh El-Zakzaky is not an enemy of Nigeria

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) says that its leader, Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, is not an enemy of Nigeria. Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to leave self-acclaimed Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho, alone in order to avoid a civil war. Gunmen kill APC chieftain in Ondo

File Photo A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Hon Bamidele Isibor, has been killed by gunmen. The APC leader was shit dead along Ifon-Imoru road in Ose Local Government Area of the state while returning to Imoru after a political function. The state publicity secretary of the party, Mr Alex Kalejaiye confirmed the incident in a statement issued yesterday. He said the late APC leader who was a member of the State Executive Committee of the party was atacked in company of others, on his way from Imoru to Ifon. Chad accuses CAR of killing six of its soldiers

The Chad government on Monday accused the Central African Republic (CAR) of killing six of its soldiers in an attack on an outpost in the south of the country. “The Central African armed forces attacked the outpost of Sourou in Chad on Sunday morning … killed a Chad soldier, injured five and kidnapped five others who were then executed in Mbang on the Central African Republic side,” Chad’s Foreign Minister Cherif Mahamat Zene said in a statement. The CAR regularly accuses its northern neighbour of supporting armed rebel groups from inside Chad. Somali Army kills 24 al-Shabab militants

Somali National Army (SNA) said its forces killed 24 al-Shabab terrorists after a foiled terror attack on its military base in the southern town of Diinsoor on Saturday night. The SNA said in a statement on Sunday that al-Shabab terrorists tried thrice to launch an attack on the army base in Bay region but the troops successfully repulsed them and instead killed 24 terrorists. The army added that its forces recovered weapons used by the al-Shabab to kill and maim people during an operation which was conducted after the foiled terrorist attack. Unity schools old students condemn Kebbi abduction

Former students of unity schools across the country, under the aegis of the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA), have decried Thursday’s attack on the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State during which scores of students and teachers were abducted by bandits.
