ICPC indicts 88 MDAs for procurement act violations
File Photo The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has indicted 88 Ministries, Departments and Agencies for violating the provisions of the Public Procurement Act, 2007 in the last three years. The anti-graft agency also said 53 MDAs were guilty of tax default, noting that they had been on the Federal Inland Revenue Service tax defaulters list for three years. It classified 132 MDAs that did not respond to its assessment as ‘corruption high-risk MDAs’ stressing that they “will be treated as such.” This was contained in the ICPC Ethics and Compliance Scorecard of Federal MDAs 2020 made available to newsmen on Tuesday. Lagos government promises to compensate victims of Fagba crisis
The Lagos State Government on Tuesday promised to compensate residents who lost their property to the Fagba crisis in Ifako-Ijaiye local government area of the state. Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made the promise while on assessment of the level of destruction of property over the ethnic clash in the area. Police confirm DPO, Inspector’s death in Sokoto
The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed the death of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and an Inspector attached to Gidan Madi Division in Tangaza Local Government Area of the state. The command’s Spokesman, DSP Sadiq Abubakar, told newsmen on Thursday in Sokoto that about 100 unknown gunmen invaded the town and engaged the police in a gun battle. Abubakar said the incident occured at about 1:30 a.m. and two officers, including Mr Aliyu Bello, the DPO, and Muhammad Abdullahi, an Inspector, were shot death by the the armed men dressed in army camouflage. He said another ASP Sani Abdullahi sustained injuries and was hospitalised, while the police have drafted senior officers to undertake assessment of the situation.
