Choctaw-Cherokee artist Jeffrey Gibson has been selected to represent the U.S. pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale. Amongst the many trends to come and go within art over the past few years, immersive exhibitions were certainly some of the most viral. One of the major companies behind these events, Lighthouse Immersive Inc., has filed for bankruptcy. First reported by Bloomberg, the Toronto-based company, which operates shows on the wildly popular event on Vincent Van Gogh, as well as similar iterations on Mozart, Monet, Frida Kahlo and King Tut, filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy in Delaware in an attempt to protect its U.S. assets. The Brooklyn Public Library is currently celebrating its fabled son, Jay-Z, in a multimedia exhibition dubbed, The Book of HOV. The free show presents a curated selection of images, art and ephemera spanning his nearly three decade career across music, business and philanthropy. The title of the show was eerily inspired by American futurologist Alvin Toffler’s 1970s book of the same name, which anticipated the stress and disorientation ushered in by technological age.
