Report: Arteta believes Arsenal midfielder needs a move to a club like NUFC

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are looking to land Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock on loan for the rest of the season before the end of the day. The 21-year-old could complete the move to St. James’ Park in the coming hours as manager Mikel Arteta has urged him to leave on loan. The Spaniard believes a move to a club like Newcastle is precisely the sort of challenge Willock needs at this stage of his career, but whether the player is willing to swap North London for the North East for the second half of the campaign remains to be seen. Magpies manager Steve Bruce is expecting a definitive answer from Arsenal in the next few hours as he looks to bolster his squad for the remainder of the campaign. Manchester United boss seeks team’s cutting edge after Arsenal stalemate

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Manchester United’s forwards need to be more clinical after a 0-0 draw at an under-strength Arsenal dealt a second setback to their Premier League title challenge in four days. United threw away top spot with a shock 2-1 defeat by bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United in midweek and are now three points adrift of league leaders Manchester City having played a game more than their local rivals. The quartet of Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes have now scored just once in United’s last five league games. Cavani was the biggest threat for the visitors with two second-half efforts that flew just wide, but Arsenal were worthy of at least a point despite missing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Bukayo Saka and Kieran Tierney. “We come awa...

Report: Newcastle pushing hard to sign 21-year-old midfielder on loan from PL rivals

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are pushing hard to convince Arsenal to loan them Joe Willock before Monday’s transfer deadline. The 21-year-old has made just two starts in the top flight this season, and he was on the bench against Manchester United on Saturday. The youngster is eager to play, and Arsenal could be ready to let him go to get some regular game time. The Magpies boss Steve Bruce admitted earlier this week that he is hoping to bring in one or two players this month on loan. Bolstering the midfield is one of Bruce’s top priorities this month. Newcastle have been heavily linked with a move for Hamza Choudhury, but it looks like they Magpies have turned their attention elsewhere. Willock has been highly impressive in the Europa League campaign for...

Report: Leicester looking to raid PL rivals for 23-yr-old, Newcastle keen as well

Leicester City are interested in signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan from Arsenal this month. According to The Athletic, the 23-year-old is a target for other Premier League clubs like West Brom, Southampton and Newcastle United as well. However, the player prefers a move to Leicester. The versatile 23-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal and he needs to leave in order to play regular first-team football. A move to Leicester could allow him to play in his favoured midfield position. He has been used as a full back at Arsenal in the recent months. According to the report, the Foxes are depleted in the midfield because of injuries and the potential departure of Hamza Chowdhury. It will be interesting to see if they can convince the Gunners to sanction the departure of the...

Nwankwo Kanu reacts to Arsenal vs Manchester United draw

Former Nigeria international Nwankwo Kanu has praised both former club Arsenal and Manchester United following their tensed 0-0 draw in Saturday’s Premier League tie at the Emirates. We look forward to next 3 points,” he...

‘Really poor’ – Some Man Utd fans are unhappy with 23-yr-old’s display against Arsenal

Manchester United were held to a goalless draw against Arsenal in the Premier League earlier tonight and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will feel that his side should have won the game. The Old Trafford outfit had their fair share of chances but the likes of Edinson Cavani failed to convert. The Red Devils have been let down by their attack in the recent weeks with Anthony Martial failing to deliver against Sheffield United and this time it was Marcus Rashford who struggled step up. Rashford has been criticised for his form this season and the England international was anonymous once again. The striker was sloppy in possession and his decision making was off against Arsenal. The 23-year-old will have to improve his end product if he wants to play as a starter for a club of United’s stature. Rashford...

Mikel Arteta: Arsenal, Manchester United electrifying moments no longer exist

Electrifying moments that always followed Arsenal, Manchester United matches are gradually fading away, according to Gunners boss, Mikel Arteta. Arteta spent five years as an Arsenal player and never featured on the winning side against United. But all the old animosities had gone by then and today’s encounter at an empty Emirates is sure to be played out in relative peace. Arteta admits: “It’s not only the Arsenal and Manchester United fixtures which have calmed down. “If you look at the way all the derbies used to get played, it’s not the same right now. “The game is evolving and we are educating the players in a different way. “For sure they are not allowed to get away with some of the things they used to do 20 years ago and with VAR that’s even less. “The game is much more controlled a...

Can Arsenal help Martin Ødegaard revive his career?

Martin Ødegaard has joined Arsenal on a loan deal that runs to the end of this season, with no option to buy included. Our newest Gunner! 😄🇳🇴 pic.twitter.com/tYc9w0g6N3 — Arsenal (@Arsenal) January 27, 2021 The hope is that he will help Arsenal solve their lack of creativity with his outstanding playmaking skills, while this opportunity in England will help him revitalise his career. Odegaard has stagnated since he cut short his two-year loan at Real Sociedad after being recalled by Real Madrid prior to the start of the 2020/21 season. However, he has only made five starts and four substitute appearances for Los Blancos this term, clearly failing to impress Zinedine Zidane enough to get a regular starting spot. He will be hoping to be a more integral ...
