Senator Abiru flours PDP, Babatunde Gbadamosi at Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has dismissed the People’s Democratic Party, PDP’s appeal, seeking to disqualify Senator Adetokunbo Abiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from continuing to represent the Lagos East Senatorial District. It upheld the argument of Kemi Pinheiro, (SAN) for Abiru and Abiodun Owonikoko (SAN) for APC that the appeal lacked merit. The court also awarded a cost of N1 million against the appellants – PDP and its candidate, Babatunde Gbadamosi, in favour of each of the respondents, Abiru and the APC. Justice Adamu Jauro wrote the lead judgement. Abiru won the last December 5 senatorial bye-election, polling 89,204 votes against Gbadamosi’s 11,257 votes. Police escort, driver of APC chieftain shot dead in Delta
The police escort and driver of an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Delta state, Chief Michael Johnny, were killed on Sunday by gunmen in an attempted kidnap attack at Airport Junction, Uvwie council area of Delta state. According to reports from sources, his wife was target of the attack, which occurred at about 11:12am. However, she was reportedly said to be attending a church service when the suspects struck. Acting Delta spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and dismissed allegations that the woman was kidnapped. APC states to implement Security Trust Fund to address insecurity
In a bid to fight the increasing wave of insecurity in the country, All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled states are to strengthen the legal framework for the implementation of the Security Trust Fund (STF) by member States. This decision was reached at the 12th Quarterly meeting of Secretaries to Government of APC states in conjunction with the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.
