The new film may not have a role for Anne Hathaway, instead focusing on Streep's Miranda Priestly. A Devil Wears Prada Sequel Is In the Works, With Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt Liz Shannon Miller
Get ready to return to Genovia, because The Princess Diaries 3 is in the works at Disney. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel is being written by Aadrita Mukerji (Supergirl, Scorpion, Reacher) and is, in fact, a sequel, not a reboot, meaning it will continue the story established by 2001’s The Princess Diaries and 2004’s The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. Anne Hathaway, who starred in both films as Princess Mia Thermopolis, does not yet have a deal to return for the sequel, but she’s long said she’d be down for a third movie, so here’s hoping she joins the cast if the film moves forward. The same goes for Julie Andrews, who played Mia’s grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi. Related Video The Princess Diaries is based on Meg Cabot’...
This review is part of our coverage of the 2022 New York Film Festival. The Pitch: James Gray, an experienced outer-borough tour guide, brings us closer to his own Queens past in Armageddon Time, a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age drama (though he says he wasn’t aiming for that genre; more on that later). The film follows 12-year-old aspiring artist Paul Graff (Banks Repeta) as he struggles with school, makes a friend in his classmate Johnny (Jaylin Webb), clashes with his parents Irving (Jeremy Strong) and Esther (Anne Hathaway), and takes solace in the love of his grandfather (Anthony Hopkins). The 1980 presidential contest looms in the background; at one point, kids at a posh private school start an impromptu chant for Reagan at the mere mention of elections, just before an assembly ...
Anne Hathaway was pictured sitting on the front row at the Michael Kors show at New York Fashion Week on 14 Sept., and eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot the message behind her stylish outfit. Wearing a black turtleneck, brown croc-embossed leather jacket, and a matching leather miniskirt, all from Michael Kors, the ensemble bears a striking resemblance to the costume she wore playing Andrea Sachs in “The Devil Wears Prada“. The 2006 blockbuster — which sees Hathaway play clueless intern Sachs, working at an intimidatingly well-known fashion magazine — is said to be based on several magazines, but it is widely believed Anna Wintour was the inspiration for the fictitious Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep. What makes this 2022 moment even more iconic is that Hathaway was s...
The Pitch: At the outset of COVID-19 lockdown in London, Linda (Anne Hathaway) and her longtime partner Paxton (Chiwetel Ejiofor) have broken up. Unfortunately, they’re still quarantined together, and they’re both experiencing career crises — hers over a heartless but lucrative corporate job, his over what he sees as dead-end prospects. Their various neuroses come together when they’re presented with an unusual opportunity to pull off a daring heist. COVID: The Movie: Locked Down is the second big-studio-style movie conceived, produced, and released entirely during the pandemic, after last year’s woeful Songbird. Screenwriter Steven Knight wrote it in the fall; director Doug Liman shot it in the fall; and now it’s hitting HBO Max just months after principal photography wrapped. Though some...
