“Creative synergies are vital for cities to survive, and our arts and cultural industries have been shut down all across the country, taking a terrible toll on workers and the economy,” said Cuomo in a release. “We want to be aggressive with reopening the State and getting our economy back on track, and NY PopsUp will be an important bridge to the broader reopening of our world-class performance venues and institutions. New York has been a leader throughout this entire pandemic, and we will lead once again with bringing back the arts.” The programming for NY PopsUp will be curated by the interdisciplinary artist Zack Winokur, in partnership with a council of artistic advisors who represent the diversity of New York’s dynamic performing arts scene. Source: Pacific Press / Getty Though New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio helped navigate New York through a grueling and horrifying few months during the Coronavirus pandemic to the point where life is semi-normal once again, many New Yorkers are still harboring hard feelings towards the elected leaders and let as much be known on the streets of Brooklyn. The New York Post is reporting that during an block party this past Saturday night in Brooklyn, partygoers decided to send a not to subtle message to the states governor and city’s mayor and painted “F*CK CUOMO AND DE BLASIO” on the streets of North 15th Street between Wythe Avenue and Banker Street in Williamsburg. Source: NBC / Getty Much has been said about the uncomfortable testing method for the Coronavirus but with the pandemic continuing to rage throughout the world, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo decided to show just how quick and easy the test can be. Stressing the importance of testing and imploring New Yorkers to go out and get tested for the virus at Sunday’s press conference, Gov. Cuomo decided to get tested himself on live TV to prove you don’t have to be “New York tough” to go through the procedure. Standing up straight while a doctor in protective gear inserted a nasal swab into his nose to take a sample, the moment was a stern reminder of what elected officials are supposed to do in order to reassure their constituents that at the end of the day we’re all in this together.
