Anambra guber: No individual can produce PDP candidate – chairman

File Photo Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anambra, on Tuesday said no individual can influence emergence of its candidates with the returned power structure of the party to the people. Nwobu told newsmen in Awka on Tuesday that anybody wishing to clinch the ticket of the party should work to earn the trust and support of the greater majority. The chairman said that 12 aspirants had so far indicated interest to contest the state governorship election on the platform of the party. Police order arrest of fake coronavirus taskforce in Anambra

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang, has ordered the arrest of illegal task force teams claiming to be enforcing COVID-19 measures including wearing of face masks in the state. Abang, in a statement issued to newsmen, in Awka, on Saturday, by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, said the Command would arrest and prosecute those found extorting money or intimidating members of the public in the guise of enforcing face mask protocols. ICPC declares former staff wanted over fraudulent practices

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has declared one Gloria Obioma Elih, a former staff wanted for allegedly demanding and receiving gratification from officials of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources who were being investigated. The ICPC disclosed this in a statement released on Tuesday via its official Twitter account stating that Criminal charges were filed against Elih, who was also a former staff of the commission before an FCT High Court presided over by Hon. Justice Adeniyi. Man goes berserk, clubs own children to death with pestle

The police in Anambra State have arrested a 34-year-old man, Ifeanyi Apulosi, for allegedly killing his two children. Police spokesperson Haruna Mohammed disclosed this in a statement on Sunday. The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr Don Adinuba said the state government had decided to establish a COVID-19 task force in each of the 21 local government areas. A non-governmental organization, Greater Awka Allies International, GAAI has urged Anambra State government to ensure the protection of children in orphanages as the COVID-19 outbreak persists. Police arrest 28-year old man for raping lady twice with ‘fake’ gun

Anambra State Police Command, has arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly, raping a 36 year old woman twice with ‘improvised’ gun.
