Cops Shut Down Secret Amsterdam Rave In Under-Construction Police Station

A bold group of Dutch ravers committed far from the perfect crime last weekend, hosting a secret rave in an under-construction police station in Amsterdam. 300 ravers attended the illicit party in the Zeeburg district, NME reports. “The building was practically full,” according to police. When they arrived, attendees reportedly climbed over fences flanking the police station, which surround the building in order to gain entry. A police department spokesperson also said that some revelers cut holes in the fences and caused damage. Authorities confirmed that two people—a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old—were arrested on suspicion of organizing the rave, per NME. Police also seized the party’s sound equipment and speakers. ADE Launches New Arts & Culture Program

With plans to return in full force this fall, the organizers of the iconic Amsterdam Dance Event have launched a new Arts & Culture program for the five-day summit. Scheduled for October 13-17, the conference will now feature a series of exhibitions, special performances, art installations, documentaries, and more to explore the nexus between clubs and culture. Ogun governor suspends aide arrested for ‘fraud’ in US

The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has suspended his aide, Abidemi Rufai, who was arrested in the United States for an alleged $350,000 (about N140 million) COVID-19 unemployment fraud. Kunle Somorin, Abiodun’s chief press secretary, confirmed the suspension to newsmen on Tuesday. Traffic in Suez Canal resumes after stranded ship refloated

Shipping traffic through Egypt’s Suez Canal resumed on Monday after a giant container ship which had been blocking the busy waterway for almost a week was refloated, the canal authority said. The 400-metre (430-yard) long Ever Given became jammed diagonally across a southern section of the canal in high winds early last Tuesday, halting traffic on the shortest shipping route between Europe and Asia. Live footage on a local television station showed the ship surrounded by tug boats moving slowly in the centre of the canal on Monday afternoon.
