Delightfully, the track features vocals from both: “Giving up, lying down, baby it’s misery. I need to get what’s mine o mine,” they intermingle on its chorus. Jayda G’s sonic strengths play out with rich, retro synths and a whirling guitar riff. Meanwhile, the ethos of Aluna shines through with a sultry topline and high-energy house b...

Let’s be honest here—we’re all full of crap with our New Year’s fitness resolutions. We stomp into the gym on January 2nd with a “clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose” mentality à la Friday Night Lights, but wake up in December with nothing but a pizza-filled potbelly and regret. Ergo, it should come as no surprise that one of the world’s largest streaming services has launched a dedicated space to share fitness-related music content and light a fire under the collective ass of its subscriber base. Apple Music today announced its new “Fitness DJ Mix” series, a hub where artists and DJs share exclusive mixes designed to offer spirited workout experiences. Moving forward, fans can expect one new mix each month. The first collection features...
It’s no secret that the current generation of young music producers is about as creative as they come. From the endless libraries of music available online to the fast-paced evolution of music-making technology, their artistries have been catalyzed by unprecedented access to education and inspiration. The result? Experimental aesthetics, enticingly textured soundscapes and respect for— yet rampant disregard of—genre. The debut album from rising Namibian producer Gina Jeanz proves no different. Released independently on December 3rd, Lucid Theory is equal parts old and new, reigniting well-known sonics and drum machines with multidimensional arrangements and whimsical genre blends. Jeanz also plays with euphonious vocalists and live instrumentation, channeling the comp...

The run will kick off in Atlanta on December 2nd before concluding in Toronto on January 29th. Stops along the way include Los Angeles, Denver and Detroit, though it appears New Yorkers and Chicagoans will have to make special trips out of their cities for this one. While official support has yet to be announced, “Gold” collaborator Austin Millz is listed on the billing for January 20th in Boston. “This DJ tour is for the culture, a place where those who are excited by the future of dance music can come together and rave,” Aluna wrote on social media. “Y’all know what I’m about — bringing the ...
Just weeks ahead of the anticipated release of a new EP, Midas, Austin Millz has decided to give fans a taste of what’s to come. The project’s latest single, “Gold” with Aluna, was released September 10th. Bright synths glisten in the background of this sultry dance track, which places Aluna’s silky vocals front and center. Singer-songwriter Tiara Thomas also assisted on the lyrics, adding her Grammy- and Oscar-winning expertise to the mix. Her work glides above a funky arrangement of bass and percussion that finds strength in its glittering textures. Playful and easygoing, “Gold” is built for early morning dance floors and sunset rooftop raves. “So much joy was used in making this song,” Austin Millz said in ...
