<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-07T17:57:48+00:00“>April 7, 2021 | 1:57pm ET St. Vincent has fully embraced the ’70s aesthetic for her retro-sounding new record, Daddy’s Home. Today, she’s diving headlong into the animation styles of the era with the video for “The Melting of the Sun”. Presented as a “betamax deluxe release” rip from “Candy’s Music Video Archives,” the clip blends live action shots of St. Vincent herself with the wavy, intermittent animation frames any Schoolhouse Rock student is familiar with. The psychedelic lines fit a song called “The Melting of the Sun” perfectly, as do the drawings of the legends mentioned in the song’s lyrics like Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, and Tori Amos. St. Vincent co...

Unable to tour due to the pandemic, Dave Grohl kept busy during the early months of quarantine by publishing short stories from his life to an Instagram page dubbed “Dave’s True Stories”. His tales recounted a 4th of July fireworks display gone horribly wrong; a wild story involving Pantera and a strip club; and the time he got to jam with Prince. Now, Grohl intends to compile these stories and more in his first published book. Entitled Dave Grohl: The Storyteller and set for release on October 5th, the 304-page book is described by Grohl as “a collection of memories of a life lived loud. From my early days growing up in the suburbs of Washington, DC, to hitting the road at the age of 18, and all the music that followed, I can now share these adventures with the world, as seen and hea...
St. Vincent performs on SNL St. Vincent delivered her first public performance in support of Daddy’s Home with a late-night appearance on Saturday Night Live. It was an appropriate venue for Annie Clark to debut material from her upcoming full-length, given that the album was heavily inspired by early 1970s New York City. “I would say it’s the sound of being down and out Downtown in New York, 1973. Glamour that hasn’t slept for three days,” she previously explained in an interview. In keeping with that aesthetic, Clark went full retro for her two-song SNL set. Lead single “Pay Your Way In Pain” saw St. Vinny perform in a chic full-body jumpsuit, singing into an old-school microphone. When she later returned to the stage to play her latest song, “The Melting of the Sun”, she was draped in a...

Radiohead have officially joined TikTok. A verified account for the alt-rock legends appeared on the video app earlier this morning, but the only thing they’ve posted so far is proving very difficult to parse. The short clip features Radiohead’s mysterious associate Chieftain Mews delivering some sort of dystopian news broadcast at a desk with the words “Mews” emblazoned on it. The video is shot in black-and-white with a grainy, glitchy filter, and there’s some sort of strange logo on the wall behind Mews that resembles graffiti art. As always, Mews is wearing a bizarre bald cap that’s pulled down just above his eyes, and he’s rocking a suit — but no tie — a white undershirt, and dark-colored nail polish. What he says makes even less sense. “Say something,” we hear an off-camera voice at t...
