<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-20T21:04:51+00:00“>May 20, 2021 | 5:04pm ET Alanis Morissette has released a new song, “Rest”, in support of Mental Health Action Day. She co-wrote the track with her “I Miss the Band” collaborator Michael Farrell. The production was handled by Alex Hope, known for working with Troye Sivan and Alec Benjamin. “Rest” is a stirring, piano-driven anthem advocating empathy for the everyday struggles of others. “You think it’s a walk in the park and it’s easy,” she sings. “She’s got it as good as it gets/ This misunderstanding’s a line between living/ And being a walking dead.” “Today is #MentalHealthAction Day,” Morissette wrote on Twitter. “I’m sharing a song entitled ‘Rest’ written ...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-20T22:03:53+00:00“>May 20, 2021 | 6:03pm ET DEVO co-founder Gerald Casale has announced a reissue of his 2006 album AKA Jihad Jerry & The Evildoers. It comes out June 12th via Real Gone Music. But that’s not all! The reissue’s expanded tracklist includes a new new single called “I’m Gonna Pay U Back” that sees Casale reuniting with his DEVO bandmates for the first time in 10 years. “I’m Gonna Pay U Back” is a massive track with ominous bass, jagged guitars, and eerie new wave synths that pulse throughout. Joining Casale on the track are his late brother Bob Casale, Josh Freese, Bob Mothersbaugh, and Mark Mothersbaugh, which explains why it recalls the creative genius of ...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-05-19T18:37:40+00:00“>May 19, 2021 | 2:37pm ET Garbage are back with another single from their upcoming album No Gods No Masters. The new song is called “Wolves” and it’s available to stream below. Like the album’s title track, “Wolves” is a bold, guitar-driven number with new wave synth that sees Garbage returning to form. Shirley Manson sings about a desperate love affair gone wrong with a twisted delivery. In the chorus, her vocals are especially breathy and eerie, transforming the narrator into an almost possessed-like figure. “This song reminds me of my younger self, when there were two sides to my personality,” Manson explained in a press release. “I hurt so many people in my ...

It’s too risky to celebrate Doomin’ Sun’s release by playing a concert for fans right now during the pandemic, so the duo have organized the next best thing: a star-studded livestream music festival. Say hello to Doomin’ Sun Fest, a free event on June 10th featuring Tegan and Sara, Courtney Barnett, Ben Gibbard, and dozens of other artists. Doomin’ Sun Fest is billed as both a massive livestream festival and a telethon to benefit Seeding Sovereignty, an Indigenous-led collective that disrupts colonized spaces thr...
Microsoft is finally retiring Internet Explorer next year, after more than 25 years. The aging web browser has largely been unused by most consumers for years, but Microsoft is putting the final nail in the Internet Explorer coffin on June 15th, 2022, by retiring it in favor of Microsoft Edge. “We are announcing that the future of Internet Explorer on Windows 10 is in Microsoft Edge,” says Sean Lyndersay, a Microsoft Edge program manager. “The Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be retired and go out of support on June 15, 2022, for certain versions of Windows 10.” While the Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) of Windows 10 will still include Internet Explorer next year, all consumer versions will end support of the browser. Microsoft doesn’t make it clear (and we’re checking), bu...

The film also features Sleater-Kinney member and Portlandia star Carrie Brownstein, who is recruited by Annie Clark to document her latest concert tour. “It was supposed to be a music documentary. Concert footage, interviews… I wanted people to know who I really am,” Clark explains to the camera. “One of the reasons why I wanted to make a documentary in the first place is because I would finally be in control of the narrative. A small part of me was starting to second guess itself. Why was the mov...
