The Cranberries are paying tribute to Dolores O’Riordan on what would have been her 50th birthday with a new specially curated playlist. “To mark the occasion, we have, together with some of Dolores’ closest friends and family, chosen a special playlist of 15 songs from our catalogue, songs that remind each of us in differing ways and for differing reasons of Dolores, and rather than choose songs from the hits, we decided to choose from some of our favourite lesser-known songs,” said The Cranberries’ Fergal Lawler Mike Hogan, and Noel Hogan in a statement. Entitled Remembering Delores, the 15-song digital-only playlist was created and released with the approval of O’Riordan’s estate. Take a listen below. Following the cancellation of Bonnaroo 2021, in which Hurricane Ida rendered the campgrounds and festival site unusable just days before kickoff, artists are seeking ways to still connect with fans. Among the acts already in middle Tennessee announcing last-minute shows are Leon Bridges, The Band Camino, and Zach Bryan. Saturday, September 4th featured one of the more stacked impromptu lineups of the weekend when Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville welcomed Sylvan Esso, Brittany Howard, and Phoebe Bridgers (with a negative COVID test or proof of vaccination required for entry). Stretching over four hours, the show allowed ample time onstage for all the artists. As Phoebe Bridgers put it, glancing at the nearly 7,000 people gathered in downtown Nashville, “Bonnaroo would’ve been tight…but this...
Mark Hoppus has completed his chemotherapy treatment, revealing to his former Blink-182 bandmate Tom DeLonge that his doctor “thinks the chemo did the trick.” Hoppus was diagnosed with 4-A diffuse large B-cell lymphoma earlier this year. His mother previously battled the same cancer and successfully beat it. In a text message exchange with DeLonge, which was subsequently shared to DeLonge’s Instagram, Hoppus shared that he has no more chemotherapy treatments currently planned. Advertisement Related Video “Doctor said I can take my port out,” Hoppus wrote, “I think because he thinks the chemo did the trick and I’m done but also if the chemo didn’t work[,] we do a different treatment entirely?” In response to the news, DeLonge offered some sage advice on how Hoppus should celebrate: “Time fo...
Dinosaur Jr. have postponed the first leg of their North American tour, citing rising “COVID cases and hospitalizations along with the impact that the Delta variant is having.” In April of this year, the alt-rock veterans dropped Sweep It into Space, their first album since 2016’s Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not and their 12th overall. After playing a few scattered dates, the band was set to embark on a big headlining trek next week. But all dates from September 10th through October 2nd have been postponed, with the band hoping to continue as planned with the second leg beginning in November. “I’m really bummed that we’re not playing these shows,” J Mascis said in a statement. “I miss touring and miss all of you. I’m grateful for your understanding, and I hope all of you are ...
Listen via: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Podcasts | Stitcher | Radio Public | Pocket Casts | RSS Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament once stated that “essentially Ten was just an excuse to tour.” The band clearly just wanted some material to play on the road, as their first tour kicked off just after they’d completed mixing sessions for their debut album; the record wasn’t even released yet. The tour — PJ’s only with drummer Matt Chamberlain — was a short one focusing on the East Coast and Midwest. It wrapped up in Chicago at the famed Cabaret Metro with a concert that is still legendary among Pearl Jam fans. The Dodos have announced their forthcoming new album, Grizzly Peak, and shared a pair of singles in “Annie” and “The Surface.” The indie rock duo’s eighth studio effort is slated to arrive November 12th via Polyvinyl Record Co., and serves as their first full-length since 2018’s Certainty Waves. Lead single “Annie” finds The Dodos at both their brightest and most regretful, pleading for forgiveness over virtuosic instrumentation and production. “Oh Annie/ Could it be something/ That I had been missing/ All along?/ Annie/ Can you forgive me?/ We were going to ride it/ Till the end,” Meric Long croons on the chorus. Meanwhile, “The Surface,” is a jaunty ode to depression and burnout, as Long sings of being, “Tired, almost out of ideas,” and wondering “how do I fake my death?” “We had a lot o...
Injury Reserve are releasing their highly-anticipated sophomore album, By the Time I Get to Phoenix, in just a couple of weeks. The alt hip-hop group has already shared the record’s lead single, “Knees,” and today, they’re following it up with “Superman That” and an accompanying music video. “Superman That” sees Injury Reserve moving in an experimental direction, fueled by crunchy beats and a nearly-indistinguishable time signature. To top it off, Ritchie with a T’s melodic vocals are doused in Auto-Tune, making the track feel almost otherworldly. Its video, directed by Injury Reserve producer Parker Corey, is full of equally disorienting visuals. Check out the “Superman That” clip below. By the Time I Get to Phoenix, the follow-up to Injury Reserve’s 2019 self-titled debut, is due ou...
The legend Johnny Marr has announced Fever Dreams Pts 1-4, a double album that will be released as four separate EPs. Fever Dreams Pt 1 arrives October 15th, and as a preview the former The Smiths guitarist has shared the new song “Spirit, Power and Soul.” Fever Dreams Pt 1 is a four-track effort, and the new single doesn’t just open the EP, it also sets the mood for the three EPs to follow. As Marr said in a statement, “‘Spirit, Power and Soul’ is a kind of mission statement. I had an idea about an electro sound with gospel feeling, in my own words… an electro soul anthem.” “Spirit, Power and Soul” rolls along like a high-speed train, powered by heartbeat drums and chugging electric guitars. “Now, time has come,” Marr sings. “Spirit, power, and soul/ And...
With Duran Duran’s upcoming album, FUTURE PAST, arriving in October, the new wave veterans have unveiled the latest preview, titled “ANNIVERSARY.” Stream it below. Co-produced by the band with British DJ and producer Erol Alkan, “ANNIVERSARY” contains hints of previous Duran Duran hits meant to be Easter eggs for fans to uncover. “‘ANNIVERSARY’ is a special song for us. Obviously we were conscious of our own impending 40th anniversary of making music together, but we wanted the song’s meaning to be inclusive in the broadest possible way,” bassist John Taylor explained in a statement. “After playing and working together for so long, we very much appreciate what ‘being together’ and ‘staying together’ can really mean, it’s not something we would have thought song-worthy 40 years ago but we d...
