“Because I’m insane and I’ve been waiting to do this show since I was 12 years old,” declares Aubrey Plaza in the newly released teaser video for this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live. It’s a full-circle moment for the Parks and Rec and White Lotus actress, who once worked as an NBC page and then bombed an audition for SNL early on in her career. Now, she’ll finally get her chance to host the sketch comedy series on the January 21st episode featuring musical guest Sam Smith. Plaza’s trademark brand of humor is on full display in the promo, as she tries out a couple of impressions and then makes out with SNL cast member Chloe Fineman. Watch it below, and revist our list of “15 Times Aubrey Plaza Was Iconic.” SNL’s 48th season continues on January 28th with an episode hosted by Creed...
The Pitch: 17 years after the Formans shuttered their basement doors forever, a new era of revels, reefer, and joyrides is unfolding in Point Place, Wisconsin — this time on Netflix, rather than Fox. That ’90s Show follows Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon)’s daughter, Leia Forman (Callie Haverda), as she spends the summer crashing with her grandparents, the inimitable Red and Kitty Forman (played by Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp, respectively). Now in the era of grunge-influenced fashion, Alanis Morrissette, warehouse raves, and disposable cameras, That ’90s Show introduces a new era of fun-seeking basement dwellers: Ashton Kutcher’s Michael Kelso and Mila Kunis’ Jackie Burkhart are mostly out of the picture, but their son Jay Kelso (Mace Coronel) a...

Austin electronic artist Bayonne has announced his third studio album, Temporary Time. The LP is out May 26th via Nettwerk, and along with the news, he’s shared first single “Right Thing.” “To me the overall narrative of Temporary Time is the events following my Dad’s cancer diagnosis in early 2019,” Bayonne said in a statement. “The record explores the emotional journey we went through as a family coming to terms with his declining health. Not every song covers this, but that presentiment is lingering in the back of my mind through it all.” Bayonne continued, “During much of the recording process, I was in a pretty deep state of depression, which is pronounced throughout some of the lyricism. I started focusing on my mental health and things eventually became much easier for me, but ...
Months after an unsuccessful bid at West Hollywood City Council, Boy Meets World star Ben Savage has turned his attention to Congress. As Deadline reports, the actor filed papers with the Federal Election Commission to run for California’s 30th District seat, which is currently held by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Burbank. Though she hasn’t announced plans to step down, Schiff is expected to run for U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s seat, opening the door for Savage’s campaign. The actor is a registered Democrat who, despite not winning his campaign for city council, has some political experience: he completed a political science degree at Stanford, where he interned for then-U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) in 2003. As a city council candidate, Savage named affordable housing and community safety...
Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman has announced a leave of absence from the band in order to focus on his mental health. “Without divulging all the details, I must disclose that my mental health has rapidly deteriorated over the past several years. So, to avoid fading away and never returning, I will be taking a break from work which regrettably includes stepping away from Fall Out Boy for a spell,” Trohman wrote in a statement posted to the band’s Instagram page on Wednesday. Trohman’s announcement came hours after Fall Out Boy announced their newest album, So Much (For) Stardust. He acknowledged the awkward timing, writing, “It pains me to make this decision, especially when we are releasing a new album that fills me with great pride (the sin I’m most proud of).” Advertisement Related V...
If the investors in Jurassic Park never figured out that the dinosaurs always kill people, then the manufacturers of M3GAN can be just as entertainingly dense. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a sequel to the killer horror movie — aptly titled, M3GAN 2.0 — hit theaters on January 17th, 2025. M3GAN, aka the Model 3 Generative Android, romped its way to a $30 million box office in its opening weekend and has made nearly $100 million to date. Those are the kind of numbers that would be impressive for almost anyone except James Cameron, let alone a movie with a $12 million budget. M3GAN starred Allison Williams as the human protagonist, with a team of Amie Donald and Jenna Davis as the titular villain. It was directed by Gerard Johnston and boasted a script by Akela Coo...

Last year, White also dropped Entering Heaven Ali...
William Daniels, Mr. Feeny on Boy Meets World, has been married to actor Bonnie Bartlett Daniels for 72 years — not all of them monogamous. As the 93-year-old Bartlett Daniels relates in her new memoir Middle of the Rainbow, the pair opened their marriage in what became a “very painful” period in their lives. “I guess it was a little bit of an open marriage at first, but that was very painful,” Bartlett Daniels said in an interview with Fox News Digital. “That didn’t work well. And it was a time when people were doing that. It was at a time in New York when there was a lot of sex and a lot of people doing all kinds of things, you know – very free. But I don’t know if there was a lack of commitment a little bit, and that’s not good. So there was a lot of pain connec...
Lace up your cleats, because Ted Lasso is finally on its way back; Apple TV+ has today announced that their hit sitcom will return for Season 3 sometime Spring 2023. (Translation: soon.) They’ve also revealed a first look at the season, which you can see in the still above. Ted Lasso Season 3 was originally announced to return in fall 2022. Although a specific premiere date for the new season is still up in the air, the show’s co-writer and co-star Brett Goldstein said last summer that the crew was planning on Season 3 of the Jason Sudeikis-starring series to be its last. However, since then, we’ve heard whispers that Season 3 might not be the end after all, and with its streaming numbers, we can imagine Apple TV+ would want to keep the ball rolling. Season 2 of Ted Lasso wr...
Fall Out Boy have announced their new album, So Much (For) Stardust, out March 24th via Fueled by Ramen/Elektra Records. As a preview, they’ve shared the first single “Love From the Other Side.” So Much (For) Stardust marks Fall Out Boy’s return to Fueled by Ramen 20 years after releasing their debut studio album, Take This to Your Grave, on the label. In a statement, lead vocalist Patrick Stump said the making of the record also marked a return to basics. “Technology has made it really easy to make records much more quickly these days. There’s nothing wrong with that, and that spontaneity can be exciting,” Stump said. “But we wanted to get back to the way we used to work. We wanted to make a record that was really lovingly crafted and deliberate and patiently guided — like someone cooked ...
New York City festivals are always tricky. Not only is there a general lack of large, open fields ripe for thousands of festival goers, it’s difficult to compile a music festival that aligns with the city’s fusion of cultural identities. Governors Ball has been adamant about offering both components in their 10+ year history, and their 2023 lineup, announced on Tuesday, January 17th, is a testament to that mission. With Kendrick Lamar, Lizzo, and ODESZA topping the bill this year, Governors Ball is taking after their older festival siblings by prioritizing unique, global, and must-see artists. Though you can catch an act like ODESZA at virtually any other North American festival and Lizzo’s been making the headlining rounds for a while, there is a global twist that stands out this year. No...
