After 53 days, countless firings, a total collapse of his free speech posture, and some very weird lies about doxxing and “assassination coordinates,” Elon Musk might be poised to step down as head of Twitter. Musk had always said that he expects to find a new CEO “over time,” but the timeline may have been accelerated starting Sunday, December 18th, when he put up a 12-hour Twitter poll asking, “Should I step down as head of Twitter? Martin Duffy, Keyboardist in Primal Scream and Felt, Dead at 55
Martin Duffy, who played keyboard in Primal Scream, Felt, and Charlatans, has died at the age of 55. According to Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie, Duffy died on Sunday from a brain injury he suffered after falling at his home in Brighton. Duffy joined Felt in 1985 the age of 16, after responding to a flyer posted at a Virgin record store. Over a prolific four-year period through 1989, Felt released seven albums, including the widely-regarded titles like Ignite the Seven Cannons, The Seventeenth Century, and Forever Breathes the Lonely Word. After fulfilling their record contract, Felt broke up in 1989. With her sophomore album SOS, SZA has earned her first No. 1 album, and the fifth biggest debut in all of 2022. SOS moved 318,000 equivalent units in its first week of release. That makes for the fifth-biggest debut of the year, following Taylor Swift’s Midnights (1.578 million), Harry Styles’ Harry’s House (521,000), Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss (404,000) and, Beyoncé’s Renaissance (332,000). Pusha T has revealed he no longer has any ties to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label in a new interview with XXL. When asked if he was still the president of G.O.O.D. Music, Push responded, “No, I’m not” before confirming to the magazine that he wasn’t tied to the label at all. And while G.O.O.D. Music and Def Jam’s partnership ended in 2021, Push has his own 50/50 deal with Def Jam for his solo music and label, Heir Wave Music Group. Terry Hall, lead singer of influential UK ska band The Specials, has died at the age of 63.
