Black Belt Eagle Scout, the indie rock project of Katherine Paul, is back today with another new single called “Nobody.” It’s the latest sample of her upcoming album The Land, The Water, The Sky. Much of Paul’s music is inspired by her Indigenous roots, and “Nobody” navigates the complexities of representing a marginalized community: “When I was growing up, I didn’t have very many Native role models to look to on TV or the radio,” she said in a press release. “It was within my own community that I found inspiring role models through our elders and our community leaders.” Paul adds: “With Native representation in music and television slowly growing, I often ask myself where I stand within representation in music and how I want to be seen. This song is about the relationship I have with my o...

With festival appearances over the past few years, she has continued to prove how versatile she is as a vocalist, solidifying herself as a modern cover queen and often going full rock star onstage. While we don’t yet have too much of a preview on the vibe of the upcoming album, listeners won’t have to wait too long; Cyrus recently teased a snippet of the album’s first single, “Flowers,” to her social media, offering a dreamy and sun-drenched preview of what we might hear. If you’ve been keeping tabs on Robert Plant lately, it’s clear he’s doing just fine without Led Zeppelin. That doesn’t mean he always goes it alone, though: In a new interview with Vulture, Plant credits his pal Phil Collins for helping him get his solo career off the ground, saying the Genesis musician was “a driving force” for him. “After John [Bonham, Led Zeppelin drummer] passed away and there was no Led Zeppelin, there had to be a way to go,” Plant says in a new interview with Vulture. “I floundered around a lot because until I was 32, I was in some kind of wild and absurd adventure… Phil Collins especially was a driving force and had positive energy with the first record, Pictures at Eleven. It wasn’t a difficult job to get together with other people, it was just wheth...

IDLES rang in the new year with a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night. As the evening’s musical guest, the English post-punks performed “The Wheel,” a highlight form their 2021 album Crawler. From their various other late-night performances to their documentary, we know very well by now that IDLES know how to work a stage, whether it be a sweaty, scrappy punk venue or high up in the glossy studios of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Their earth-shattering riffs, combined with the flashing strobe lights behind them, matched their ferocious energy. As frontman Joe Talbot smashed a cymbal belted the song’s anthem — “can I get a hallelujah?” — even the comparatively tame audience couldn’t help but throw a few whoops in response. Watch IDLES perform “The...
Things get weird down under. For proof, look no further than Hulu’s latest animated series Koala Man, which gets its official trailer today. Koala Man was created by Aussie director Michael Cusack, who also stars as Kevin, the titular hero. Kevin’s a regular old bloke who tries juggling his family with his burning desire to solve petty crime. Results are mixed. Armed with a marsupial mask, Koala Man traverses the city to rectify potentially catastrophic mishaps like a cat stuck in a tree, a messy lawn mowing job, and janky office Wi-Fi. He’s clearly still getting the hang of things, and his various anthropomorphic animal enemies aren’t making things any easier.
