It’s one of the most high-profile K-pop collaborations of all time: BIGBANG‘s TAEYANG has recruited Jimin of BTS for his vibrant new throwback single, “VIBE.” The track marks TAEYANG’s first new solo release since his 2017 album White Night, as the vocalist and dancer went on to complete his time in the South Korean military in 2018. BIGBANG returned as a group in 2022 with the warmly received ballad “Still Life.” “VIBE,” meanwhile, is a catchy anthem perfectly fit for one of BTS’s strongest dancers — not only is the choreography a blast, but Jimin’s instantly recognizable and distinct vocals also inject the second verse with a burst of energy. What’s more, Jimin has called himself a fan of TAEYANG’s since BTS’s debut back in 2013, when Jimin named him as the artist he’d most love to ...
Later this month, Green Day will release Nimrod 25 – 25th Anniversary Edition, a retrospective box set celebrating their 1997 album that includes previously unreleased demos and a live set from the era. Today, the band has shared one of those demos, a cover of Elvis Costello’s 1977 ballad “Alison.” In “Alison (Demo),” Green Day go all in on Elvis Costello’s gentle crooning. The percussion in the original lends the track a soft rock vibe, but in the punk band’s cover, Billie Joe Armstrong’s unmistakable voice sits alone atop only a muted guitar, emphasizing the sweetness of Costello’s tale of unrequited love. Check it out below. The Green Day frontman notably performed “Alison” alongside Elvis Costello during a 2006 taping of the VH1 Classic series Decades Rock Live. Advertisement Rela...
Surprise! Less than a year after their latest album A Bit of Previous, Belle and Sebastian return today with another new full-length called Late Developers. Listen to it in full below via Bandcamp. Clocking in at 11 songs, Late Developers was recorded during the same sessions as A Bit of Previous. But as punk rocker and B&S superfan Jeff Rosenstock writes in the album’s liner notes, Late Developers “doesn’t feel like a collection of lesser-than songs that weren’t good enough to go on the ‘real’ record,” instead evoking the freedom and proficiency of skilled painters on “a jumbo-sized canvas.” Lead single “I Don’t Know What You See In Me” puts that metaphor into effect, swapping out Belle and Sebastian’s typical indie-pop jangle for a heavy dose of ’80s synth-po...
Rome and Duddy, the new collaborative project of Sublime with Rome’s Rome Ramirez and Dirty Heads’ Dustin Bushnell, are kicking off the new year with the announcement of their debut collaborative EP, Cactus Cool, arriving on March 3rd. Cactus Cool was produced by Vance Powell (Jack White, Phish) and Leroy Powell (Sturgill Simpson) and composed in a mountain cabin in Idyllwild, California. The frontmen duo, who also host The Rome and Duddy Show on the Consequence Podcast Network, previously teased the upcoming project in an Origins interview for the debut single, “Cannabis Tree.” “We aimed to merge our loves of Reggae, Americana, country, and folk into new original music,” they said. “Something familiar yet new and exciting...
Måneskin have enlisted the chops of Tom Morello for their new single “Gossip.” It’s the latest taste of the Italian rockers’ upcoming album, Rush! “Gossip” continues Måneskin’s brand of catchy danceable rock, but adds some signature distorted guitar sections from the Rage Against the Machine axeman. After a tease of his playing at the 1:09 mark, Morello returns at 2:17 with a more emphatic solo. Lyrically, vocalist Damiano David invites us to Los Angeles, the “city of lies” where “you can be a movie star” and “put plastic on your face.” On the chorus, he sings, “Sip the gossip, drink ’til you choke/ Sip the gossip, burn down your throat/ You’re not iconic, you are just like them all/ Don’t act like you don’t know.” Check out “Gossip” below. Oh my “Gosh,” Jamie xx is “finishing mixing” his new album, the follow-up to the 2015 electronic classic In Colour. As The xx member told triple j Mornings, the project will feature contributions from The Avalanches. “I’m in ‘finishing mixing’ mode. And I can’t take any longer,” he said, before confirming, “Yeah, it’s my next album.” He added that the songs “have been years in the making. I realized that I am just slow, and that’s ok. And I’ve actually been really enjoying the process of it. And I was also making Oliver’s record from the band and making the last xx album in between, so it hasn’t felt like it’s taken that long, but it’s just allowed me the time to gather everything I wanted to.” Advertisement Related Video Fans may have already heard glimpses o...
Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance at The 1975’s London concert on January 12th, during which she performed the live debut of her hit single “Anti-Hero.” During her brief acoustic set, the pop star also covered The 1975’s song “The City.” Watch the fan-shot footage below. In November, The 1975’s singer Matty Healy revealed the group had worked on sessions for Swift’s latest album, Midnights, but their version “never came out.” Next time, perhaps. Advertisement Related Video Swift is just months away from her own “The Eras Tour,” which brought Ticketmaster’s site to its knees during pre-sales alone. After the general on-sale was canceled, the US Congress opened up multiple inquiries into Ticketmaster and a group of Swifties have also filed a lawsuit alleging fraud, price fixing, and an...
Robbie Bachman, co-founding member and drummer of Bachman-Turner Overdrive, has died at the age of 69. Randy Bachman announced the death of his brother and bandmate in a social media post: “Another sad departure. The pounding beat behind BTO, my little brother Robbie has joined Mum, Dad & brother Gary on the other side. Maybe Jeff Beck needs a drummer! He was an integral cog in our rock ‘n’ roll machine and we rocked the world together.” Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s core lineup consisted of Randy and Robbie Bachman and Fred Turner, following a previous run under the band name Brave Belt (which Randy formed after he quit The Guess Who). Another Bachman brother, Tim, was also a founding member of BTO, but was replaced after a couple of years by Blair Thornton. Advertisement Related Video D...
The hottest party in music isn’t the Grammys and it isn’t at Diddy’s house, it’s FXX’s comedy Dave. The industry satire from Lil Dicky attracts some of the biggest names in entertainment, and Season 3 will continue that trend with appearances from Usher, Rick Ross, Don Cheadle, Demi Lovato, Machine Gun Kelly, Megan Fox, Killer Mike, and Travis Barker. “That really is a fraction,” Dave Burd told the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena on Thursday. Dave stars Lil Dicky (real name Dave Burd) alongside Taylor Misiak, Andrew Santino, GaTa, Travis Bennett, and Christine Ko. Over the first two seasons, Dave attracted the kind of cameo talent we usually associate with HBO comedies like Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm. “People in the industry, espe...
Miley Cyrus is back but the mullet is not as she enters a new era with her latest single, “Flowers.” It’s the first preview of her upcoming album Endless Summer Vacation, which is due out March 10th on Columbia Records. When last we heard new music from Cyrus, she was channeling a pop star Joan Jett on her 2020 album, Plastic Hearts. Endless Summer Vacation is said to be her “love letter to LA,” and “a reflection of the strength she’s found in focusing on both her physical and mental well-being. With that in mind, “Flowers” sounds like an ode to independence. “I can buy myself flowers,” she sings, adding, “I can love me better than you can.” The song comes with an accompanying music video and you can check it out below. Michael Bay is in legal trouble in Italy, where a pigeon — a protected bird in the country — allegedly died on his film set. According to TheWrap, a homing pigeon was killed by a dolly during the filming of the 2019 Netflix film 6 Underground. An unnamed individual took a photo of the incident and reported it to the Italian authorities due to a national law that prohibits harming, capturing, or killing any wild bird. As the director of the film, Bay is being held responsible for the pigeon’s death. Italian authorities offered to allow Bay to pay a small fine and settle the case, but he has repeatedly declined the offer, maintaining his innocence in the incident. “I am a well-known animal lover and major animal activist,” Bay told TheWrap. “No animal involved in the production was injured o...
