Tame Impala Gives a Trippy Performance of “Is It True” on Colbert: Stream

On Monday evening, Tame Impala played a special quarantine rendition of “Is It True” for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.  The performance of The Slow Rush cut was suitably psychedelic, but it also revealed some troubling tendencies in the band. The singer was almost late, the guitarist kept walking off-stage, and did they really need to hide the bass player all the way at the back? Lou Barlow Says Next Dinosaur Jr. Album Is Finished, Plays New Song: Watch

Late last year, bassist Lou Barlow revealed that Dinosaur Jr. were in the studio recording their next record. Now, relishing his role as the official Dino-leaker, Barlow has announced that the album is finished and mixed. What’s more, he’s premiered a new, currently untitled song. The news came from Barlow’s laundry room during a lockdown livestream performance on Monday. “We just finished mixing the Dinosaur Jr. record. David Bowie’s Earthling-Era Live Album Receives First Public Release

A David Bowie live album capturing performances from his 1997 “Earthling Tour” will soon receive its first-ever public release. Entitled LiveAndWell.com, the 2000 album was originally available in limited quantities to subscribers of Bowie’s early aughts dial-up internet subscription service BowieNet. Now, on May 15th, Parlophone Records will give LiveAndWell.com its firs proper commercial release with two bonus tracks. The tracklist features songs from Bowie’s Outside and Earthling as performed in New York, Amsterdam, Rio De Janeiro, and at the UK’s Phoenix Festival. Livestream Mac DeMarco’s and Nathaniel Rateliff’s Pickathon Music Festival Performances

Consequence of Sound is teaming up with Pickathon Music Festival to stream past festival performances from Mac DeMarco and Nathaniel Rateliff. DeMarco’s 2014 set from Pickathon’s Woods Stage streams today beginning at 4:00 p.m. EDT / 1:00 p.m. PDT. At the time, DeMarco was supporting his stellar sophomore album, Salad Days. A full recording of Rateliff’s 2019 performance at the Woods Stage airs the same time tomorrow. Both performances can be viewed on our Facebook page. Unreleased Aleka’s Attic Songs Featuring Flea Coming For River Phoenix’s 50th Birthday

A pair of previously unreleased songs from River Phoenix’s band Aleka’s Attic will be released on August 23rd in celebration of Phoenix’s 50th birthday. The two songs were recently completed by Phoenix’s close friend, Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers. They’ll be released digitally and on 10-inch vinyl through LaunchLeft, the artist alliance founded by River Phoenix’s sister and former Aleka’s Attic bandmate, Rain. Last year, Rain Phoenix put out a double A-sided single featuring two unreleased Aleka’s Attic songs alongside a new collaboration between Rain and R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe.
