Grey Daze Announce New Album Featuring Chester Bennington’s Vocals, Share “Saturation (Strange Love)”: Stream
Grey Daze, the Phoenix-based band that was fronted by the late Chester Bennington prior to his career in Linkin Park, has announced the newly recorded album The Phoenix, arriving June 17th. The new LP follows 2020’s Amends, another album that featured Bennington’s vocals. Like Amends — with the blessing of Chester’s family — the original members of Grey Daze re-recorded the band’s old material from the ’90s while incorporating Chester’s vocal tracks. The new album also features contributions from Dave Navarro, Richard Patrick, and Bennington’s daughters, Lily and Lila Bennington. Chino Moreno on Deftones’ Return to Touring: It’s “Going to Be Cathartic” to Scream and Sing Again
After two postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Deftones are finally set to kick off their North American tour with Gojira. Singer Chino Moreno expects the long-awaited excursion to be a cathartic experience after a couple of years off the road. The tour was originally scheduled for Summer 2020, then postponed to Summer 2021, and finally rescheduled for Spring 2022. ALS Patient with Complete Paralysis Asks to Hear Tool Album via Brain Implant
An ALS patient with complete paralysis became the first known person in his condition to use a brain implant to communicate, and one of the first things he asked for was to hear a Tool album. Scientists were able to communicate with the late-stage ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) patient using a brain implant that allows him to select letters and form sentences. “The neurological disease destroys the nerves that control movement,” per Science.org, “and most patients die within five years of diagnosis. When a person with ALS can no longer speak, they can use an eye-tracking camera to select letters on a screen.” The patient in question, who is now 36, began working with a research team at the University of Tübingen in 2018. Deftones Part Ways with Bassist Sergio Vega
Deftones have parted ways with bassist Sergio Vega after an apparent contract dispute. Vega replaced Chi Cheng after the latter fell into a coma following a horrific car accident, and remained with the band following Cheng’s death in 2013. However, Vega claims he never became an “official member” of Deftones despite handling bass duties for roughly 12 years. Vega, who’s also the bassist for New York post-hardcore band Quicksand, took to Instagram TV to read a lengthy statement explaining the situation. Korn have announced they will livestream an intimate Requiem release show from the Hollywood United Methodist Church in Los Angeles. Earlier this week, it had come to light that original Coal Chamber bassist Rayna Foss was reported missing back in September. Now, her daughter, Kayla Rose, has set the record straight, revealing that her mother is not missing and that she spoke with her mother “as recently as yesterday.” On September 13th, local Fox TV affiliate WVUE posted that Foss was reported missing on September 7th by a manager at the New Orleans group home in which the musician apparently resides. Original Coal Chamber Bassist Rayna Foss Was Reported Missing Four Months Ago
Rayna Foss, the original bassist of the nu metal band Coal Chamber, was reported missing in September, with her whereabouts currently unknown. The 51-year-old musician was living in a group home in New Orleans at the time she disappeared. Foss was a member of Coal Chamber from 1994 through their initial breakup in 2003. She appeared on the band’s first three albums — 1997’s Coal Chamber, 1999’s Chamber Music, and 2002’s Dark Days. She did not join the band when they reunited from 2011 through 2016.
