2023: Group begs Yahaya Bello to join presidential race
As the preparations for Nigeria’s presidency in 2023 intensifies, a diaspora group known as Governor Yahaya Bello Solidarity Movement, has joined the voices calling on Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to join the race. Coordinator of the group, Joy Robinson, in a statement issued in Abuja said, that their decision to back the governor is because there’s need for what she called a competent, energetic, detribalised, progressive, courageous and a religious leader to oversee the affairs of the country. Kano fire service saves 96 lives, N49.6 million property in January
Kano State Fire Service said it saved 96 lives and property worth N49.6 million in 98 fire incidents in the state in January. Alhaji Saidu Muhammad, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Service, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Kano. Muhammad said the fire incidents were recorded in the month of January in various parts of the state. According to him, seven lives were lost and property worth N27.3 million were destroyed by fire during the period under review. “The Service responded to 72 rescue calls and 16 false alarms from residents of the state,” he added. Muhammad attributed most of the fire incidents in the state to careless handling of cooking gas, use of inferior electrical appliances and poor wiring. The Miyetti Allah has called for the arrest of Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho for the alleged assault on the Seriki Fulani of Oyo state, Alhaji Saliu Abdulkadir. Nigerian government distributes relief materials to IDPs in Bauchi
The Federal Government has distributed relief materials to 578 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Shira Local Government Area of Bauchi. Yoruba elders condemn burning of Sarkin Fulani’s residence
Elders in the South West have condemned Friday’s attack on Sarkin Fulani, in Oyo State, Alhaji Salihu AbdulKadir and his family where houses were burnt down, livestock killed and 11 cars also burnt to ashes. ACF: Attack on Fulani a social upheaval that may destabilise Nigeria
The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has condemned the attack on a Fulani community in the southwest, insisting that such an act was a social upheaval that may destabilize the country. ACF also alleged that security agents did nothing when the attack was carried out. Sokoto border communities warned against aiding smuggling
Border communities in Sokoto State have been warned against aiding the smuggling of illicit items into the country. The Area Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Abdulhamid Ma’aji, gave the warning at Illela during a sensitisation meeting held Tuesday with youths and community leaders at Illela town, a border community in the northern state. The Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Justice Ishaq Usman Bello, on Tuesday bowed out of service on the attainment of 65 years of age.
