RZA has shared a new single called “Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater”. It’s the first preview of the Wu-Tang Clan member’s forthcoming album, RZA vs. Bobby Digital, a dual-persona project due out August 6th. The track — as well as the entire album — was produced exclusively by DJ Scratch, allowing RZA’s instantly-recognizable MCing to take the forefront. “Lyrically the hip-hop part of me had a chance to re-emerge during quarantine,” RZA said in a statement. “Giving Scratch the reins as a producer and me taking the reins as an MC, that’s what frees me up creatively and lets me play more with lyrical gags and lyrical flows because I don’t have to be focused on everything. [Scratch] delivered tracks that resonated and brought me back to a sound that I felt was missing. For me it was really ...
The Vaccines have unveiled the title track and release date for their upcoming album Back in Love City. The British rock band’s fifth studio set is slated to hit shelves, streamers, and digital retailers on September 10th via Super Easy/AWAL Recordings. According to frontman Justin Hayward-Young, the 13-track studio set was inspired by all types of cityscapes — from the real to the fictional — and the idea took root when he traded homes (The Holiday-style) with a someone in L.A. “I literally swapped lives with a stranger. I lived in [his] house and drove his car while he lived in mine, but we’d never met and had no previous connections,” he said in a statement. “Back In Love City” finds the quintet delivering a chant-ready, guitar-driven chorus between Hayward-Young’s cheeky...

British glam rockers The Struts have announced their third studio album. It’s called Strange Days and it’s due out October 16th via Interscope. Remarkably, Strange Days was created during the coronavirus quarantine. As such, several of the full-length’s 10 songs touch upon what it’s like riding the emotional rollercoaster that is this year. Lomelda, the indie folk project of musician Hannah Read, has shared a new song called “It’s Infinite”. It’s the latest single to come from Hannah, her upcoming album, before it drops on September 4th via Double Double Whammy. Technically, this is the second Hannah teaser, following lead track “Wonder”. Both songs have painted the full-length as an introspective, insightful, and honest listen that uses acoustic guitar and lush percussion to draw out those feelings. On its own, “It’s Infinite” is a gorgeous rush of stirring folk, the kind that Lomelda made a name for herself with, but it carries arguably more momentum than we’ve seen from her prior. Needless to say, that little burst of optimism and emotion is welcome more than ever these days. Editors’ Picks According to a statement f...
Last time we spoke to Jenny Lewis about Rilo Kiley’s 20th anniversary, she seemed a bit shocked at how much time had passed. Now, we’re feeling the same way. That’s because today, the beloved emo-goes-indie pop group have announced they’re reissuing Rilo Kiley, their self-titled debut album from 1999, on October 2nd via Little Record Company. Rilo Kiley originally formed back in 1998 in Los Angeles as a four piece featuring Lewis, Blake Sennett, Pierre de Reeder, and Dave Rock. After writing a handful of original songs and rehearsing regularly, they booked their first show at the Silverlake venue Spaceland. As it turns out, comedian Dave Foley was in the crowd that night and fell head over heels for their music — so much so that he wound up funding the band’s very first demo session and, i...
Kylie Minogue, photo by Darenote Ltd. 2020 Kylie Minogue is hitting the dance floor for her next studio album. Titled Disco, it’s due for arrival on November 6th. The upcoming effort follows up on Golden from 2018 and consists of a total of 16 new songs. One of those is lead single “Say Something”, produced by longtime associate Biff Stannard. As to be expected, the track works in a glittery ’70s strut, all while Minogue laments the distance — both physical and emotional — between herself and a loved one. “We’re a million miles apart in a thousand ways,” the Grammy winner sings. “Love is love it never ends, can we all be as one again?” Quite a timely tune given our current circumstances, right? Stream it below. Disco is available for pre-order now. All of the new album’s visual compon...
