Black Thought Announces New Album Glorious Game with El Michels Affair, Shares “Grateful”: Stream

After teaming up with Danger Mouse last year, Black Thought has announced another collaborative album. This time around, he has linked up with New York funk and soul band El Michels Affair for a project called Glorious Game, out April 14th via Big Crown Records. Black Thought and El Michels Affair founder Leon Michels have a relationship dating back to the early 2000s, which includes performances together in New York and Philadelphia. After occasionally collaborating at the group’s studio over the years, Black Thought reached out to Michels during the pandemic and set the wheels in motion for the album. Pre-orders are ongoing. U2 Reimagine 40 of Their Songs on New Album Songs of Surrender

On St. Patrick’s Day, U2 will unveil their new album Songs of Surrender. Taking a page from Taylor Swift, the forthcoming collection sees the band reimagine 40 songs from their back catalog. U2’s The Edge previewed the project in a handwritten note sent to fans. “The fact is that most of our work was written and recorded when we were a bunch of very young men. Those songs mean something quite different to us now,” The Edge wrote. “Some have grown with us. Some we have outgrown. But we have not lost sight of what propelled us to write those songs in the first place. Animal Collective’s Avey Tare Announces New Solo Album 7s, 2023 Tour

Animal Collective’s Avey Tare has announced his latest solo album, 7s, will be released on February 17th via Domino. What’s more, he’s mapped out a spring solo tour (grab your tickets here) and shared the lead singles “The Musical” and “Hey Bog.” The new set, which is Dave Portner’s fourth studio effort solely as Avey Tare, was recorded in his hometown of Asheville, North Carolina with producer Adam McDaniel. Neutral Milk Hotel Announce New Box Set, Share Unreleased Single “Little Birds”: Stream

Neutral Milk Hotel, the indie rock project led by the reclusive Jeff Mangum, have readied a new archival box set, titled The Collected Works of Neutral Milk Hotel, for release on February 24th via Merge. The vinyl compilation includes the group’s two full-length LPs, 1996’s On Avery Island and 1998’s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, as well as two 10-inch EPs, three 7-inch singles, and an exclusive 12-inch picture disc of the concert album Live at Jittery Joe’s, which features a 1997 performance by the band originally released in 2001. The Collected Works marks the digital debut of several tracks initially included on a 2011 compilation self-released by Mangum, and expands on the previous offering with a double LP edition of On Avery Island, a remastered and extended tracklist for the 1...

The New Pornographers Announce New Album Continue as a Guest, North American Tour

The New Pornographers have announced their new album, Continue as a Guest, out March 31st as their debut on Merge Records. Along with the announcement, they have mapped out a North American tour (grab your tickets here) with Wild Pink and released a new single titled “Really Really Light.” A.C. Newman produced the 10-track album, which he recorded alongside a lineup of Neko Case, Kathryn Calder, John Collins, Todd Fancey, and Joe Seiders. Everything But the Girl — the prolific pop duo best known for their 1994 club hit “Missing” — will return on April 21st with Fuse, their first studio album in 24 years. Ahead of its release, Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn have shared the record’s first single “Nothing Left to Lose” today. The English music duo went on an amicable, indefinite hiatus in 2000, choosing to go out on a natural high note. Daughter Announce New Album Stereo Mind Game, Share “Be on Your Way”: Stream

Daughter have returned with Stereo Mind Game, their first studio album in seven years. It’s out April 7th on Glassnote Records and features the lead single “Be on Your Way.” The trio of Elena Tonra, Igor Haefeli and Remi Aguilella wrote and recorded the album in locations ranging from London, England to San Diego, California to Vancouver, Washington. Haefeli and Tonra co-produced Stereo Mind Game, which marks Daughter’s first record to feature voices other than Tonra’s; Haefeli sings on “Future Lover” and “Swim Back.” Voice notes from friends and family also appear on “Wish I Could Cross the Sea” and “(Missed Calls),” with Josephine Stephenson-led London-based string orchestra 12 Ensemble featured throughout the album. Miley Cyrus Announces New Album Endless Summer Vacation

Miley Cyrus has announced a new album called Endless Summer Vacation, which is set for release on March 10th via Columbia Records. The album was recorded in Los Angeles and produced with Kid Harpoon, Greg Kurstin, Mike WiLL Made-It, and Tyler Johnson. Cyrus describes it as her “love letter to LA,” as well as “a reflection of the strength she’s found in focusing on both her physical and mental well-being,” notes a press release. Fantastic Negrito has announced his new album Grandfather Courage, an acoustic reimagining of his 2022 full-length White Jesus Black Problems. It’s out on February 3rd via his own Stormfront Records. Grandfather Courage contains 11 songs in total and brings a new perspective to White Jesus Black Problems, which was based on the true story of his seventh-generation white Scottish grandmother, an indentured servant who lived in 1750s colonial Virginia in a common law marriage with his seventh-generation Black enslaved grandfather. The album was created with the help of Negrito’s touring band and includes a previously released reworking of “Oh Betty,” which was nominated in the Best American Roots Performance category for the 2023 Grammys. Little Simz has revealed her fifth album, NO THANK YOU, and you don’t have to wait to hear it. The 10-song LP is now available to stream below via Forever Living Originals/AWAL.
