Airbnb and SnapScan Join Forces to Encourage Local Spending in South Africa

Image sourced from The Tyee Airbnb has partnered with SnapScan to launch ‘Support Jozi, Shop Local’, an initiative that aims to aid the recovery of SMEs by driving traffic to smaller businesses, and delivering a much-needed economic boost to local communities. Using the SnapScan app, locals and visitors alike can now buy goods and services in 20+ Jozi businesses, chosen and recommended by local Hosts on Airbnb. The vouchers are funded by Airbnb. The “Support Jozi, Shop Local” initiative aims to encourage an inclusive recovery of the sector, by providing a platform to showcase small local b...

Will Smith Lists Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Mansion on Airbnb

Now this is a story all about how you could end up staying in a nostalgia dream pad. Will Smith has listed the Los Angeles mansion used for exterior shots of his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air home for rental on Airbnb. While the rest of the home will be empty, you’ll have access to a king-size bedroom, a full bathroom, the pool area, an outdoor lounge space, and a dining room. Guests will be able to play basketball in the bedroom (“you read that right — IN the bedroom,” Smith confirms on the listing), spin DJ Jazzy...

New startup Rentoza is Africa’s first on-demand rental platform. Started by a group of 4 South Africans convinced the stuff hiding in the bottom of their cupboards and garages should be paying rent for taking up so much space – stuff that they didn’t want to sell because they might need them again. So often things are bought but only needed for a while, like a cot that your baby grew out of or bicycles laying to rust. That’s why they thought it would be great to help ordinary people turn these things into money without selling them. Even better, they realized you don’t need to buy the items you only need occasionally, because you can rent them from someone who already has them. With this plan, they created Rentoza to help people live life on their own terms. /* custom css */ .tdi_3_3b3.td-...
